Friends of the Westerwood 5k,

We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! The Westerwood 5k committee is thankful for your support of the race over these last four years. Our 2022 event, in many ways, was the best yet! It was incredible to see just shy of 300 runners and walkers, so many neighbors, and kids of all ages making their way through our incredibly beautiful and hilly neighborhood, cheered and steered by awesome volunteers. Maybe the best part was celebrating participants' 5k accomplishments at the post-race party at Double Oaks Bed & Breakfast.

For the third year, we were proud to fundraise for BackPack Beginnings and Greensboro Urban Ministry. This year fundraising for a bike maintenance station (to be installed in Lake Daniel Park) was added. It's something special to directly benefit our neighborhood, and will be easily accessible from the Greenway, for all to use. We need to raise an additional $1,000 to reach our goal. On Giving Tuesday, or anytime this holiday season, please consider a donation to the bike maintenance station so that we can see this helpful park addition become reality.

One of our two charities we support through our race, Greensboro Urban Ministries, is in need of our assistance. With only two weeks left of food in their pantry, they’re seeking canned food and monetary donations to restock.
