Resources and reflections on addressing your health needs from a whole-person perspective. Being a social worker is tough. But it's my world and I love it.
It means long hours, unpredictable schedules, piles of paperwork, way too much time on the road, and working within a system that is stacked against the kids and families you care about. So in order to be able to keep doing it, it's super important that I take care of myself, body, mind, and spirit. It's a juggling act that often means I have far too many balls in the air. Which is all the more re
ason I need prioritize self-care... and for me, a huge part of that is my physical health. During my time as a social worker, I was also a Beachbody coach for a few years and I found a lot of similarities in them. There is not one "one size fits all" answer to help people create better lives for themselves, whether its to strengthen their families or get healthier. But with both, it generally boils down to the idea of finding what works for you and making the decision to follow through on that thing, even when it's hard and you don't want to. I love Beachbody (even though I'm no longer a coach). The community. The workouts. The supplements. The incentives. The challenge groups. The nutrition plans and recipes. The simplicity it brings to my life. It has helped me change my life in amazing ways. That being said, I know that it's not for everyone. But what CAN be for everyone is committing to making your health a priority and finding what works for you in order to achieve a better outcome for yourself and your family. That ALL being said, on this page, I'll be sharing thoughts, tips, and opportunities to join me on my health journey. My hope is that this page might help others who are trying to find a balance between their health and their lives, because it can be a really difficult thing to do. But difficult does not mean unnecessary. It's the hard things that are generally the most important for us to work on.
