Riding is a marathon, not a sprint. When the process becomes frustrating and starts to feel hopeless, keep this in mind:

The process IS the accomplishment.

Geno recently helped me earn my final score for my Bronze medal, an honor that has taken me 11 years to earn.

My biggest flex from that day, however, wasn't the medal. It was how his confidence grew with each movement of the test. Every movement that we have spent months learning, even the ones that rocked us for a bit as we worked to figure them out.

Did we do them perfectly? Not even close.
Was my horse so exhausted by the end that he slept for 2 days? Absolutely.

But, as we went through the test, he attempted each movement with more and more confidence. He relaxed and we danced and it was one of the rides I'll remember forever.

And I wouldn't have fully grasped the importance of those moments without having gone through the whole process with him. To feel a horse who couldn't canter and sneeze at the same time as a four-year-old complete his first public flying changes and half passes was truly....magical.

This journey with our horses is such a blessing...every step of it. ❤️

Just a reminder that there are no lessons today as we observe Memorial Day.

We are so grateful for the freedoms we have, and grateful to the men and women who sacrificed everything for us to have those freedoms.

**LESSON EXPECTATIONS FOR SUMMER SCHEDULE**

This is the business end of lesson scheduling. While I hate having to make posts about rules, these are necessary to keep everyone safe and make lessons run smoothly for summer.

DRESS CODE
Long pants and closed-toed shoes MUST be worn for lessons. Shoes must be tennis shoes or boots. NO CROCS. Tank tops are permitted. Crop tops are not.
Riders who are not dressed appropriately when they arrive will not ride and WILL BE CHARGED FOR THE LESSON.
Parents, if you are wearing sandals or flip flops, please stay 5 feet away from the horses when they are outside their stalls.

ATTENDANCE
We understand that families plan vacations and trips in the summer. For that reason, we are returning to our attendance policy that allows cancelations WITH 48 HOURS NOTICE. Any lesson canceled with less than this will be charged, since it is difficult to fill the lesson time on short notice.

Any rider more that 15 minutes late for their lesson will not ride, and will have a groundwork leason that day. If you are more than 20 minutes late the lesson is considered canceled and you will be charged.

GENERAL RULES
The farm is a fun place to play, but please monitor younger siblings during lessons. In addition to equipment and incoming cars, their play can startle horses who are trying to focus on their riders.

Paisley and Wylie are often outside, and usually enjoy inviting others to play. Their home is on one side of the barn and ours is on the other, and both are off limits unless you are invited to be there.

Anyone caught teasing, hitting or attempting to hit the dogs will be banned from this premises IMMEDIATELY. Read that, and read it again. (Yep...I really did have to put that in writing). 🙄

The driveway is NOT A FREEWAY. SLOW DOWN. There are kids and dogs playing, horses being ridden, and people who just enjoy walking around the farm.
SLOW DOWN.

We do not allow riders to be dropped off for lessons. Parents must remain on the farm, and must stay in the barn if there is not another adult in the barn. Our facility must enforce this rule to comply with SafeSport policies.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding lessons or policies. We look forward to having a fun summer at the barn with all of you!
