The Council Facility Committee NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Work Day at Council Office - January 9th, 9am-4pm
(Rain Date – Jan 16th, 9am-4pm)
Message from Facility Committee:
As we open 2021, the Committee really needs your help in beautifying the council office property and reducing the work load of lawn landscaping & weekly maintenance. For those that do not know, for the entire year of 2020, we have relied on volunteers to mow the grass and maintain the office grounds. For 2021, we will need to do the same. We can use a crew of 25 to 30 adult workers to accomplish the work planned next Saturday, and we would love to get participation from all Districts of the Blue Ridge Council! Youth are welcomed, but due to safety concerns, please limit those to 13 years and older.
Work will start at 9am and should be finished by 4pm or earlier. If you cannot stay all day but still want to help, you are welcome to come & go as needed. All help is very much appreciated! Bring a bag lunch, face mask, and a friend! More hands make for easier & more enjoyable work!
Work to be done will include; trimming many shrubs, transplanting a few shrubs, completely removing others, spreading mulch in parking lot islands & shrub beds, and preparing some areas to receive grass sod.
Tools & items that will be needed. Please bring those that you have;
· face mask
· work gloves
· lunch & drink
· leaf rakes
· metal garden rakes
· wheel barrows
· manual hedge clippers
· mulch forks
If you have a dump trailer and a 4 wheel drive pickup to tow it, please give Richard Koontz a call 864-414-2055. For any other questions, also please call Richard.
Thanks in advance for helping to put a fresh look on YOUR council office grounds!
The moon was bright over Winter Camp last night.
Huge THANK YOU to Vic Shelburne, Brenda Koontz, and Richard Koontz for finishing the new bridge to the waterfall at COI today! They braved the cold to rebuild the footbridge at the 3rd lake covering the bones of the old bridge built by our Atta Kulla Killa Lodge at the 2004 Fall Fellowship. The tree was the original bridge from 2003. Thank you as well go to our OA ordeal candidates for getting most of the wood to the site and to AKK, Lowe's, Home Depot, and to the builders for funding this project that lets our campers to get to the scenic COI water fall!
Congratulations to STEM Scout Gitanjali Rao for being recognized as the TIME 2020 Kid of the Year!
