Happy Movement Monday! Today’s exercise is Deadbug. The Deadbug exercise is a popular way to build core strength and stabilization. It helps build a solid, stable foundation that protects the spine and allows for greater ease in everyday and athletic movements, such as moving heavy objects, walking up hills, and throwing. This move also helps prevent and relieve low back pain by protecting your lower back.
To get into the starting position, lie on your back, lift your hands so your elbows are above your shoulders with your fists facing in toward each other.
Lift your legs so your knees are directly over your hips.
On an exhale, slowly lower your right arm and left leg until they’re just above the floor.
On an inhale, bring them back to the starting position.
Repeat on the opposite side.
This is 1 rep

Happy Movement Monday! Today’s exercise is calf raises. Calf raises primarily work the muscles in your calf. This exercise is great for improving ankle stability, strength, and subsequently overall balance.
- Stand on a flat surface with your toes pointed straight ahead. Make sure you have something to hold onto.
- Lift your heels off the floor to flex your calf muscle. Pause for moment, and then slowly return to the floor. That’s one rep.

We are so excited that our Parkinson's class is starting back next week! Starting Jan. 6th, classes will be every Wednesday at 12pm.

After all the workouts and physical therapy, Moose on the Loose says he thinks he should be in this book! Would you agree?
We hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Moose on the Loose says the dry needling helped his hoof, but he needs some E-stim to help the dry needling!

Moose on the Loose has been exercising so hard that he has pain in his hoof. Dry needling will help, dear Moose!
Happy Movement Monday! Today’s exercise is a Seated Knee Extension (LAQ’s). This exercise is beneficial for improving strength of the quadriceps (thigh muscle group) before or after undergoing knee surgery, or after sustaining an injury. To increase difficulty, ankle weights can be used.
- Start by sitting in a chair or on a table/bench
- Extend one leg out straight, with toes pointed up, and hold for 1-3 secs
- Lower leg back down and repeat 10 times
- Switch legs and repeat

“Try the TRX, they said.” Now Moose on the Loose is stuck. Silly Moose, around here there’s always a workout involved!
Moose on the Loose heard about the Kettle Bell and thought he was being called to dinner! He had no idea that lifting weights was involved!
Moose on the Loose didn't want to go over the cones, so he snuck between them! You're only cheating yourself, Mr. Moose, when you don't do what your therapist says!
Moose on the Loose is tired of the cold so he’s taking a quick “cruise” in our pool!
Yikes! Moose on the Loose pulled too hard with his good arm and ended up in a mess!
It's Movement Monday! Today's exercise is bridging.
Bridging is an excellent core stability exercise and is effective for isolating and strengthening the gluteus (buttocks) and hamstrings (back of the upper leg). It's a popular exercise used to improve core and posterior chain strength which may assist with knee stability.
Lie on your back with hands by your side, knees bent and feet flat on the floor (under the knees)
Press your feet into the floor as you tighten your buttocks and abs, and lift your hips up to create a straight line from knees to shoulders
Hold the position in good form (tense the core, trying to pull your belly button back toward the spine)
Lower yourself back down to the floor

Happy Movement Monday! This week’s exercise is tandem stance. Tandem stance is a great exercise to help with balance. It is also an exercise that you can practice every day at home.
Start by standing up nice and tall and make sure you are close to something you can hold onto.
Put your right foot in front of your left foot, as if you are walking a tightrope.
Hold this position for 30 seconds.
Switch legs and repeat.
