This is such an amazing community for all things quarter horses! I thought I would make my own contribution by recommending a documentary I recently watched, called The Great Flip Off, that features some incredibly strong and talented quarter horses! The film follows the careers of various bareback riders and the horses that act as their trusted partners. I found the film really captivating! You can watch it on iTunes or Amazon!
So all of you must go to the Brookings show next year! The SDQHA puts on a very user friendly show. There were plenty of points to be had for all. The arena footing was excellent, as was the outdoor workup pen. They give ample breaks so no one felt rushed, yet we had nights we got done in time to go to a nice dinner. The camping area is clean and convenient. For us, it is a must attend show! Thank you SDQHA!
The Hawkeye Classic is a Fun & affordable show with great prizes. Root Beer Floats Friday night. AQHA Rulebook - AQHA

Rule-Change Proposals

AQHA members have until December 31, 2020, to submit rule-change proposals for the 2021 convention. However, if you believe there is a need for a major rule change, we encourage members to submit items earlier to give Association staff and/or committees and councils more time to prepare materials and communicate potential changes before the convention, which is slated for March 18-22, 2021, at the Hyatt Hill Country in San Antonio.

Download and complete the rule-change proposal form at

Once you have completed the form, please return it via email to [email protected]. If you prefer, items can also be submitted by mail at:

MAQHA Corporate Challenge

From our neighbors to the east...

Hi everyone,

Well here it is, June 16th and we are 22 days from the coolest show in the Midwest! We should be celebrating with our near sell out numbers, record sponsorships and planning how to finalize the last details! However, we are sad to report that we are cancelling the 2020 Corporate Challenge.

The last three weeks have been exhausting with a multitude of calls with DEED (Dept. of Econ Development that helps make guidelines) and the MN fairgrounds. We worked with the MN State Ag Commissioner, Representative Munson, DEED attorney and commissioner to help advocate for equine events and lead the fairgrounds through our partnership for this show. The Fairgrounds had a board meeting today and took the stance that each event was to have less then 250 people in total attendance. That was a far jump back from where we were a day ago. With a show the size of ours and over 500 stalls sold the past few years, we would expect much more than 250 people in attendance.

The state of Minnesota regulations would allow us to have the event but the fairgrounds set their own capacity limit.

We would like to thank the DEED office for their assistance and positivity that we could have a successfully managed show. We do feel we have exhausted every avenue to move forward.

We don’t think we could have worked any harder communicating, advocating, explaining, and listening than we have done this past month.

Discussions today also brought to light the possibility that the fairgrounds were going to pass down added expenses to open up the fairgrounds for our event. This was never communicated in our contract. We can not jeopardize MAQHA and not make sound business decisions based on what we know today.

All online reservations will be refunded. All mailed in reservations with checks will be shredded. All sponsorships will be refunded. Reminder to cancel your hotel reservations if you made them. We are SO appreciative to all those that have made reservations, sponsored, and planned to attend. We can't wait to see everyone for an amazing event in 2021!

congratulations to one of our wonderful yearly banquet donors. Have you heard our tagline? β€œStick Your Neck Out and Tie One On.” For me, this phrase holds a special meaning and I knew when I started this business it had to be incorporated into the brand. Stick your neck out and tie one on, to me means, taking chances, going for it, and being fearless. And t...
