Happy New Year to all South Shore ruggers, family, and friends. It is now T-minus 3 hours until splash down. Have fun and stay safe wherever you are, and report in back here with your photos and vids. #kyleplunge21
How we remember Kyle Dandrow Dandrow, in the words of Anchor Jon Harnden: "Kyle was a man of compassion, a man of family and a man of the sport. The willingness to run through you, but then give you the shirt off his back. Putting what we lost with Kyle in words, is a task than not one person on this planet can achieve. Just know that we still think about the big guy, every day. He is constantly missed."
In Kyle's honor, we plunge wherever at noon tomorrow, and we also fund the Kyle F. Dandrow Scholarship to support college-bound ruggers across the South Shore. So whether or not you plan to plunge in '21, please consider donating at https://www.ssrugby.com/polar-plunge
THIS FRIDAY WE PLUNGE! Maybe not all together as we have for the last six years, but many small groups can still make a splash! Join us from wherever you can as we remember a friend, honor a tradition, and support the Kyle F. Dandrow Scholarship Fund. Learn more and order your shirt at https://www.ssrugby.com/polar-plunge
For the last six years, on New Years Day, we braved the cold ocean amid the warmth of friends—to honor our departed friend Kyle Dandrow and to raise scholarship funds for high school ruggers.
But this year is different. We can't all be together, but we can still plunge across the South Shore, share the chills, honor the spirit, and support the cause.

Fellow revelers: Reminder that pre-orders from The Tinker's Son for Friday's Holiday Party are due tomorrow, and that you should include the pick-up time in your order. More info at https://www.ssrugby.com/holiday-party
And friends across the South Shore, another shut down may happen any day. This weekend, please support the good folks at Tink's, Galley, The Parrot, Trident Galley & Raw Bar, or Bia Bistro Restaurant with a take-out or safely distanced dine-in!
For the ruggers who made the nice list this year, consider some cool stocking stuffers from the South Shore Rugby store. Many are customizable for Anchors or Sirens. And check out that beautiful handmade cornhole set -- you know, for when we can get together and play cornhole again!
Our annual (and this time virtual) Holiday Party is next Friday, Dec. 11. We've added some new features to the sign up page -- a club-themed drink list and a "rugby specials" menu from The Tinker's Son. Sign up today and get ready to get your jolly on!
On Friday, Dec. 11, none of this will be happening.
However, WE WILL BE CELEBRATING THE HOLIDAYS and our South Shore Rugby family in virtual fashion. This is going to be good. And there will be a taste of The Tinker's Son involved. Sign up at https://www.ssrugby.com/holiday-party

Anchor family: Each year we honor the memory of Dan Breen as we golf for a cause. This year we can do more for a cause that would be close to his heart. Dan's brother James, who has fought a long tough battle of his own, needs a kidney. Go here to learn more about his story and how we can help: https://www.nkr.org/KFX843
If anything, please share and spread the word.
Our thanks and honor to veterans everywhere—especially those in the Anchor family—for your service under this flag, and for our freedom.

In today's edition of #anchorthrowbacks - BIG HITS! ...something we'd all like to do after 50 days of distancing.
#ThrowbackThursday to the Anchors at the Four Leafs Tournament. Man, we miss rugby.
Sure looks like a good day in Newport for this bunch.

Today's throwback: Mr. Bobby Maguire in beast mode. Safe to say this did not go well for the poor guy getting the stiff arm -- perhaps worse than the trail of bodies behind. Photo courtesy of Nick Sullivan.
#Saturdayisrugbyday ... or should be, at least. No action today, so we bring you this no-action scene. Looks like some bloke was naughty and sent the whole crew back to the tryline for a penalty stand. Anyone recall how that went?
Photo once again courtesy of Mike Norwood.
Today's throwback features nifty #9 Ben Palmer, who apparently zigged when he should have zagged, or didn't duck, or...?
Thanks to Mike Norwood for sharing this one and a bunch more. Keep them coming, boys!
Since COVID-19 is keeping us off the pitch this spring, we'll be digging back through memories of seasons past, starting with this one from 2012. Eight years later and this guy is still trucking over defenders (or would be, if we were allowed to $#%@! play...). Anchor friends and family: show us your favorite throwbacks!
Come cheer on the Anchors as they take on the Middlesex Barbarians tomorrow at 1:00 p.m Ralph Talbot School, Weymouth. Post-match social at the Tinker's Son!
Anchor friends, in your support of local businesses during this crisis, please include our long-time sponsor, The Tinker's Son and its family of South Shore restaurants. Take-out menus are available here. (Two suggestions: place your order for Tuesday or Wednesday, when traffic is a little slower, and please tip generously, as gratuities go to help out-of-work staff.)

As we all feel the pinch of the COVID-19 crisis, we're heartened by acts of compassion. Shout out to our sponsor, The Tinker's Son, for stepping up to support the staff on what would have been their biggest day of the year. Stay well, everyone, and take care of each other.
