Sometimes I have to remind myself that I’m only 12 years old….
This season, I got the opportunity to race yet another new class which makes 3 classes in 3 seasons now and I even got to race a Micro Sprint Car. Being at the track with race family and flying around in circles on the dirt is just so awesome getting to do what I love!!
Gripping the wheel, fighting the car, working the throttle, and trying to make the right decisions in one second all while learning how to shift and run a clutch at the same time. Then jumping out of the sprint and back into my flat kart the same night means I must pay attention and focus in order to be competitive in both classes as they are completely different ways of driving. Dirt racing isn’t easy. It’s physically demanding, mentally challenging, and you have to stay focused every single lap.
But man, I love it…every single bit of it from preparing all week to suiting up and throwing it sideways or being a smooth as I possibly can.
I know that being 12 years old and getting opportunities like this isn’t normal. And I don’t ever want to treat it like it is. I cherish every chance I get to go to the track and try to make the most of each opportunity.
God has given me a gift, and I want to use it in a way that honors Him. I still have SO much to learn, but I’m thankful He’s given me the opportunity to learn from some of the best (including my dad)!!
The truth is, I wouldn’t be doing any of this without a whole lot of people who believe in me.
Some of you pray for me before every race.
Some of you help financially or sponsor my team.
Some of you have opened doors and given me opportunities I never would’ve had otherwise.
Some of you have even opened your homes so my family has somewhere to stay when we’re traveling across the country.
And some of you just show up, cheer me on, share my posts, and remind me that people are rooting for this young kid from Harborcreek, PA.
None of that goes unnoticed….and I appreciate each and every one of you that are in my corner and support me so much.
I may be the one holding the steering wheel, but there’s a whole lot of people helping me get to the starting line.
I’m thankful for every lap, every opportunity, every person who believes in me, and every lesson along the way.
I don’t know exactly where racing is gonna take me, but I know who gave me the ability to do it. And I’m going to keep working hard to make the most of it.
I'm just 12 years old and living a dream.
