Saturday, April 11, 2026 found the Keystone Base Ball Club of Harrisburg at the opening day event for the Upper Allen Mechanicsburg Baseball Association. Many thanks to the many players and parents who stopped by our exhibit table during the morning.

At noon, the club members were honored to take the field with a picked nine from the ranks of the UAMBA Teener Clubs. The Teeners won the coin toss, and opted to allow the KBBC to strike first, and they did, posting four aces in the top of their first innings. The Teeners responded with a tally of their own during their first innings, and the match was on. During the remainder of the match, the KBBC with heretofore undemonstrated alacrity and gracefulness; the Teener countered with the enthusiasm of youth, and a desire to learn.

When the scorekeeper finally put away his pen, the KBBC held the edge in the scorebook, won the day. In a larger sense, however, all the ballists that took the field were winners, as the Keystones learned that they could still bend their joints, and the Teeners learned a great deal about how base ball was played during its formative years in the USA.

Special kudos to Teener coach, , who noted during his post game remarks that the day had been an opportunity for the younger players to learn about the history of the game, to learn about how to adapt to unfamiliar situations, and for all, including the KBBC, to learn and grow as members of our community.

The KBBC expresses its appreciation to UAMBA for including us in your event, and looks forward to returning in 2027. Perhaps the third time will be the charm.

Opponent Wanted!

The Keystone Base Ball Club of Harrisburg is actively seeking an opponent for a scheduled match on July 5th, 2026.

📍 Location: Parkesburg, PA
🕛 First match begins at 12:00 PM
🏟️ Grounds: Minch Park

Join us for “Baseball in the Park,” part of Parkesburg 250—a three-day celebration honoring America’s 250th birthday.

This historic field is no ordinary venue. Minch Park was once home to the 1920 Parkesburg Iron Company (PICO) team, a semiprofessional club that welcomed legends such as Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, and Casey Stengel. The grounds also hosted matchups between Parkesburg clubs and Negro League players during the era of segregation, making it a site rich in baseball history.

Step onto the same field and be part of something special.

Interested clubs—please reach out to Rich “Grumpy” Heinick or send a PM through Facebook of Instagram. Let’s make history together.
