Finally back home and had a chance to reflect on the past EQ tournament.
The first Bassmaster EQ event of the year didn’t go the way I needed it to. I struggled, and that result ended up putting me in a position where I can no longer qualify for the Elite Series this season.
After what I would call a great practice, a little cold front had to come along and completely take my bite away. I had no hooks on my baits starting the 2nd day of practice and thought I had a real shot to win this one.
It’s tough to accept, especially knowing how much work went into getting to this point. But fishing has a way of humbling you quickly. I’m disappointed in the result, but I’m not going to let one event define what I’m capable of.
There’s still a lot to learn, a lot to improve, and a lot more fishing ahead. I’ll take the lessons from this year and come back better because of them.
Until then, we will be fishing the final 2 EQ tournaments in hopes of winning one and making the classic!
Immediately after weigh-in on Day 2, we drove 19hrs to NY to fish a derb and caught some big ones. Didn't quite make up for the days prior, but it was still a blast!
