This week's Friday Night Kickoff Mid Penn Game of the Week is headed to Glenn Ressler Field for a top-10 matchup as #7 Steelton-Highspire (4-1) travels to Herndon to take on #4 Line Mountain (6-0).

Line Mountain has been one of the biggest stories in the Mid Penn this season. The Eagles enter Friday night undefeated, climbing to #4 in this week's Friday Night Kickoff rankings and now get another major test on their home field.

But don't overlook Steel-High.

The Steamrollers come in ranked #7 and bring one of the most established winning traditions in District 3 with them to Herndon. This is a program that's accustomed to playing in big games, and Friday night gives Steel-High an opportunity to make a statement against an unbeaten Line Mountain squad.

And if last year's meeting is any indication, expect this one to be close.
Line Mountain escaped with a 36-34 victory over Steelton-Highspire last season.

Two points. That's all that separated these two teams.

Now they meet again.

Like last year, Line Mountain comes into this matchup unbeaten, Steel-High is coming to Glenn Ressler Field looking for payback, and both teams sit inside the Friday Night Kickoff Mid Penn Top 10.

Week 7 brings us another TOP 10 PHAC SHOWDOWN ... and this time, the Friday Night Kickoff PHAC Game of the Week is heading to Montoursville.

A 2025 District IV Semi-Final Rematch. Undefeated #2 Mount Carmel Area (6-0) at #6 Montoursville (4-2). It took 3 overtimes, but the Warriors survived and escaped with a 43-42 victory.

Now, the Red Tornadoes hit the road Friday night for a matchup with a Montoursville team ready for one of its biggest tests of the season. Two ranked programs. Two teams with plenty to play for. And another PHAC, District IV battle under the Friday night lights.

Mount Carmel Area comes into Week 7 still sitting near the very top of the PHAC rankings after going toe-to-toe with Southern Columbia in last week's heavyweight showdown.

Now the challenge shifts.

From the Silver Bowl to Memorial Stadium.
From Southern Columbia to Montoursville.

And waiting for the Red Tornadoes is a #6 Montoursville Warriors squad that gets this one on its home field.

A top-10 matchup with postseason positioning becoming more important by the week.
For Mount Carmel, it’s another opportunity to prove itself against one of the PHAC’s best.

🏈 MID PENN TOP 10 — WEEK 6

Week 6 is in the books, and we’ve got some movement throughout the Friday Night Kickoff Mid Penn Top 10. 👀

The top three remain untouched, but an undefeated team climbs into the Top 4, Gettysburg takes a significant fall, and Mechanicsburg makes its return to the rankings.

1️⃣ Harrisburg Cougars — No change at the top. The Cougars remain the team to beat in the Mid Penn and hold onto the #1 spot for another week.

2️⃣ State College Little Lions — State College stays locked into the #2 spot. The Little Lions continue to build their résumé and remain right on the heels of Harrisburg.

3️⃣ Bishop McDevitt Crusaders — The Crusaders round out an unchanged Top 3. McDevitt remains one of the conference’s premier teams and stays firmly in the championship conversation.

4️⃣ Line Mountain Eagles ⬆️ 1 — Still UNDEFEATED, and it’s time for the Eagles to crack the Top 4. Line Mountain continues to answer every challenge put in front of them, and their perfect record earns them another move up the board.

5️⃣ Northern Polar Bears ⬇️ 1 — Northern slides one spot this week, largely because of Line Mountain’s continued rise. The Polar Bears remain firmly inside the Top 5 and are still one of the strongest teams in the conference.

6️⃣ Hershey Trojans ⬆️ 1 — Hershey continues its climb. The Trojans move up another spot this week and have put themselves in a great position entering the second half of the season.

7️⃣ Steelton-Highspire Steamrollers ⬆️ 1 — The Rollers are moving back up the board. Steel-High remains a dangerous team with the talent to make noise down the stretch and climbs to #7 this week.

8️⃣ Altoona Mountain Lions ⬆️ 1 — After last week’s five-spot tumble, Altoona begins working its way back up. The Mountain Lions climb to #8 and remain a team capable of competing with some of the best in the Mid Penn.

9️⃣ Gettysburg Warriors ⬇️ 3 — The biggest fall of the week belongs to Gettysburg. After sitting at #6 last week, the Warriors drop three spots to #9 after falling to Lower Dauphin. They stay inside the Top 10, but they’ll need a bounce-back performance to start climbing again.

🔟 Mechanicsburg Wildcats — NEW (RE-ENTRY) — Welcome back, Mechanicsburg. The Wildcats return to the Friday Night Kickoff Top 10 and take over the final spot after being on the outside looking in last week.

Behold... the PHAC Power Rankings after Week 6... and we finally have some MAJOR changes at the top. For the most part, the rankings are beginning to take shape - as 8 out of the 10 teams in this week's rankings got big wins on Friday Night.

The #1 spot stays put, but after one of the biggest games of the season, Mount Carmel and Southern Columbia swap places, two new teams crack the Top 10, and the bottom half continues to be absolute chaos.

Here’s where I have everybody after Week 6:

#1 Shamokin Area Indians
The Indians remain on top and move to a perfect 6-0 after taking care of Selinsgrove, 42-0, securing their THIRD shutout of the season. Shamokin continues to do exactly what the #1 team should do - win football games definitively. With victories over Shikellamy and Jersey Shore already on the résumé, there’s still no reason to move the Indians out of the top spot.

#2 Mount Carmel Red Tornadoes
Statement. Made. Mount Carmel gets its biggest win of the season by taking down previously undefeated and defending 2A State Champion Southern Columbia at the Silver Bowl. The Red Tornadoes are now 6-0, and when #2 and #3 meet head-to-head, the winner has to move up. Mount Carmel has officially entered the conversation for the top spot. Will we see a 9-0 vs. 9-0 matchup for the Coal Bucket this year?

#3 Southern Columbia Tigers
Southern drops one spot after suffering its first loss of 2026, but I'm not overreacting here. Losing to an undefeated, legitimate Mount Carmel team at the Silver Bowl doesn't suddenly make Southern anything less than one of the PHAC's elite teams. The Tigers are 5-1 and remain firmly inside the Top 3.

#4 Bloomsburg Panthers
How about Bloomsburg?! The Panthers just keep winning, and winning BIG at that. They move to 6-0 after taking care of Central Columbia and climb another spot this week. At this point, Bloomsburg isn't just a nice early-season story, they're undefeated through six weeks and deserve to be right outside the Top 3.

#5 Shikellamy Braves
Shikellamy drops one spot, as its win against winless Central Mountain, in my opinion, should have been more than 13 points. The Braves came away with a 35-22 victory, but for a team that entered the week at #4, I was looking for a much more convincing performance against an 0-5 opponent. Shikellamy is still a very good football team at 5-1, and its win over Williamsport continues to strengthen the résumé, but with undefeated Bloomsburg continuing to take care of business, the Panthers have done enough to jump them this week.

#6 Montoursville Warriors
The Warriors stay exactly where they were last week. Montoursville picked up another big win against Danville and has now responded nicely after those early losses to Jersey Shore and Southern Columbia. The Warriors are winners of three straight, trending in the right direction and remain right in the middle of a very competitive Top 10.

#7 Mifflinburg Wildcats
Mifflinburg stays at #7 after getting the job done against Warrior Run. The Wildcats have now put together a strong stretch after their rocky start, and with their losses coming against quality competition, I'm keeping them right where they are for another week.

#8 Williamsport Millionaires
Williamsport moves up one after picking up a BIG road win over Jersey Shore. After the Millionaires fell to Shikellamy a couple weeks ago, I wanted to see how they'd respond against another ranked PHAC opponent. They answered the question and earn the bump to #8.

#9 Lewisburg Green Dragons - NEW
Welcome to the Top 10, Green Dragons! Lewisburg has quietly started putting things together, and another big win this week earns the Green Dragons their now second appearance in the Friday Night Kickoff rankings. With the bottom of the rankings wide open, Lewisburg has played its way into the conversation.

#10 Loyalsock Township Lancers - NEW
And we've got another newcomer. Loyalsock grabs the final spot after continuing to build its résumé. The Lancers have been knocking on the door for several weeks, and after spending time in the First Three Out, they've finally done enough to break through.

FIRST THREE OUT:
Jersey Shore Bulldogs
Warrior Run Defenders
Danville Ironmen

And just like that, Jersey Shore and Danville are OUT after both began the season firmly inside these rankings. The Bulldogs have lost three straight, and the Ironmen have lost two straight. That tells you everything you need to know about how quickly things are changing in the PHAC.

But the biggest storyline is at the top.

Shamokin is still #1. Mount Carmel is now #2. Southern Columbia falls to #3.

BOTH Friday Night Kickoff Games of the Week lived up to the hype…WOW 🔥🔥

PHAC
The #3 MCA Red Tornadoes hold off the #2 Southern Columbia Tigers until the final whistle, 27-26. It was a battle and everything we expected. What a remarkable win for Coach Darrah and his squad. MCA rolls to 6-0 and will be moving UP in the rankings. Game of the year candidate for sure.

Mid Penn
The #4 Northern Polar Bears just continue to ROLL, as they held on for a 23-19 victory on the road against the #10 Palmyra Cougars. The Polar Bears improve to 5-1 and are absolutely crushing in 2026. What a win 🔥

This Friday night, the two football teams taking the field against each other will come together for a great cause. The proceeds from the 50/50 raffle will be donated to support Malania and her fight against cancer.

We are incredibly grateful to both teams and everyone who helps make this possible. This is what community is all about — coming together to support one of our own.

This week's Friday Night Kickoff Mid Penn Game of the Week is headed to Buck Swank Stadium for a Keystone Division, top-10 matchup with a lot on the line as #4 Northern travels to Palmyra to take on the #10 Cougars.

Northern has been ROLLING since its Week 1 loss. The Polar Bears have rattled off four straight wins, sit at 4-0 in conference play, and are coming off a 50-0 shutout of Shippensburg. Through five games, Northern has scored 145 points while allowing just 76.

Keep an eye on Mason Barnett, Brody Leathery and Cash Keck. Barnett has thrown for 604 yards and 6 touchdowns on nearly 70% completions in the available stats, while Leathery has averaged 102.7 rushing yards per game and Keck 82.7 receiving yards per game in reported games.

But don't overlook Palmyra.

The Cougars enter at 3-2 overall and 3-1 in the Keystone, and they're coming off their best defensive performance of the season; a 26-0 shutout of Waynesboro in which Palmyra piled up 395 yards of offense, including 281 on the ground.

For Palmyra, it starts with Roman Russek, Aaron Villafane and, Jaxin Robinson. Russek accounted for four touchdowns against Waynesboro - two passing and two rushing. Villafane leads Palmyra at 83.8 rushing yards per game, while Robinson leads the Cougars at 49.6 receiving yards per game.

And there’s a little history here: Northern escaped with a 22-21 win over Palmyra last season. One point separated these two programs.

Now Northern comes to Palmyra riding a four-game winning streak, while the Cougars have a chance to make a statement against the #4 team in the Friday Night Kickoff rankings.

October kicks off with a top-3 PHAC SHOWDOWN in a matchup that's become all too familiar in Central Pennsylvania. Historic matchup, historic rivalry, historic programs. One with the most PIAA football state titles, and one with the most wins in the history of Pennsylvania high school football.

#2 Southern Columbia at #3 Mount Carmel. Two undefeated heavyweights going head-to-head under the lights of the Silver Bowl in this week's Friday Night Kickoff PHAC Game of the Week.

Southern Columbia enters at 5-0, looking every bit like the powerhouse we’ve come to expect. But waiting for them is a 5-0 Mount Carmel squad that's been dominant in its own right....and now gets its biggest test of the season under the lights at home.

There’s history between these two programs. There’s no love lost. And with both teams sitting near the top of all the rankings, a loss on the record is at stake.

#2 Southern Columbia. #3 Mount Carmel Area.
Tigers. Red Tornadoes.
Blaise Kissinger. Jaylen Delaney.
Grady Garcia. Cooper Karycki.
Ayden Hockenbroch. Aidan Brokenshire.

10-0 combined. 459 total points scored. Two of the PHAC's most explosive offenses.

Mount Carmel enters Friday averaging 48.0 points per game, while Southern Columbia isn't far behind at 43.8.

And don't forget what happened the last time Southern made the trip to the Silver Bowl....Mount Carmel handed the Tigers a 7-6 loss.

Southern answered with a 49-16 victory a year ago.

Now they're both 5-0. #2 vs. #3. And they're running it back at the Silver Bowl.
