The County of Hawaiʻi committed $10,000 to support the keiki skate space project.
According to Laura Roberts, treasurer of the Ocean View Skatepark Association (OVSA), they are currently picking the features to be included in the space and determining the best path for construction, given the budget.
She added that this new donation comes in addition to the $10,000 previously committed by councilwoman Michelle Galimba and the $11,000 provided by the county specifically for a disc golf course in Kahuku Park.
Roberts said that the OVSA needs volunteers to help solicit in-kind donations for now, and as they begin construction, they will need volunteers who can help with construction and labor. She added that the OVSA has also signed a Friend Of The Park Agreement form, which places volunteers under the insurance of the OVSA.
