Just wrapped up ATOMIC HABITS, and it mentioned this concept. If the goal is long-term health, how can we apply these principles with healthy habits.

When you purchase fruit and vegetables, make it visible. Don't put them in that drawer in the fridge.

If consistency with workouts is an issue, instead of an hour workout, can you commit to something that at most 20 minutes?

What physical or mental activities do you enjoy doing outside of workouts?

The clients that worked with me for at least a year not only got results but maintained it after going on their own. It's weird to stop doing something after doing it continuously for a year.

If you want long-term results, don't rush the process. Focus on building healthy and sustainable habits. The results are a byproduct of your habits.

Got this text from a client who is in her 2nd pregnancy. The goal right now is to put her in a space to have a healthy newborn and put her on track to have a more efficient recovery after birth by eating well, eating enough, managing stress, and maintaining muscle. The scale should continue to go up as she progresses through pregnancy, but we want to limit the excess with healthy habits.

CONSISTENCY OVER INTENSITY!

If the goal is to incorporate fitness and training as your lifestyle, every session doesn't need to be a PR workout. Every workout doesn't need to be an hour long. And to be honest, you aren't always going to be motivated.

You have a better chance of being consistent for a longer period with moderate-intense workouts vs. high-intense workouts.

It's a marathon, not a sprint! 🏁

I know the majority of women have a goal weight in mind when they start their health and fitness journey. I also know that looking and feeling good is a priority. And for the most part, getting out of the cycle of yo-yo dieting and gaining and losing weight is also important.

Subscribing to quick fixes and programs that guarantee fast weight loss will continue to have you in that cycle. Adopting sustainable habits and making small changes will help maintain weight/fat loss.

FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES
The scale is not the best metric to measure progress. If we were to use a regular scale, it would say we are up almost 4 lbs. We even gained almost a pound a fat. However, we are up 3lbs (which means metabolism is higher) and the lowest body fat % since tracking.

FOCUS ON THE BIG PICTURE

Bulking- Eating at a caloric surplus
Cutting- Eating at a caloric deficit

Long-term term fitness and health will vary from person to person. However, since a large portion of our society follows diet culture, I believe, generally speaking, everyone will benefit from eating at a surplus. The fact is I come across more people who will try intermittent fasting, weight loss pills, juice cleanse, and detox than eating more protein. A slight surplus of the proper nutrition with resistance training will get you to where you need to be.

Muscle is a lean tissue. It is not bulky. Weight training, itself, does not make you bulky.
