When I'm not training, I work sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day just like most of you (ugh). We've all head the scary news that the amount of time a person sits during the day is associated with a higher risk of obesity, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, depression, etc. If that isn't enough to get you moving, sitting also causes major muscle imbalances, which is bad news for runners. Imbalances can cause pain in the lower back, reduce fitness performance, and promote injuries like runner’s knee and IT band syndrome among many others.
Let's start now, get out of that chair and walk around for a few minutes every hour! I guarantee you'll feel more energized, be more productive and healthy! Check out these great exercises you can do at your desk too.
