My favorite times as a student have been in class with Kokoa Gold 🍫✨
In 2021, I attended a pole class when I was ready to take pole seriously and the instructor told Amber Gaskins and I that the moves we wanted to do were "ambitious" for us. I didn't touch another pole for a whole year after that.
Fast forward to 2022 and decided to go back to pole at a different studio where the homegirl was teaching. Never once has she made me feel that I couldn't do something. Never once has she encouraged me to push myself to metric a that was unsupportive of the body I am in. Never once has she given up on me!
That is the type of instructor I aspire to be! So when Major Thornberry Payne steps into the room and my command takes over and I insist on finding pathways that work for your body, it is because someone did that for me and it made all the difference in the world 🌎
So though my methods may seem unconventional, silly, or seemingly impossible; I am AMBITIOUS in all the right ways and I take supporting my students (whether a spot, word of encouragement, an ear to listen, or a shoulder to cry on) extremely personal. Thank you NikaBoo 😘 (and yes I am crying 🥲)
