One way we bond with our equines is through grooming. I had just been scratching Romeo’s favorite spot on his neck and withers and he decided to groom me back.
Come take a ride with us to see Romeo in person 🐎

One way people can get an estimate on the age of a horse is by an examination of their teeth. Depending what teeth are present and if there are grooves or rings visible we can determine their age.

🐴😴Copper would like to know if it’s Friday yet😴🐴

🐴Rosie wants to remind you to smile today 🐴
Why do horses roll? Well there are lots of reasons!
It could be to relieve tension, an insect bite, their stomach may be upset, or as simple as they want a really good back scratch, so it’s important to know each horse’s personality and work with your vet to determine the root cause of behaviors.
This is Copper and he like to roll after every ride. He has been like this for many many years and for him it is because he loves a good back scratch. His favorite brush a is rubber curry to get all the good spots after a ride but he thinks he scratches himself better doing this.

Horses as a species are demonstrative comunicators
Bullwinkle and Copper were grooming eachother.
What does this mean?
Grooming and resting their heads on eachother are some of the ways horses will cominicate care and affection. Sometimes they will even groom people to show how much they love them and it is polite to scratch them back.

Thank you to everyone who came out for this years Cub Launch! Horses were quite the hit!
Don’t forget you can still sign up for camping at the Adirondacks this fall/ winter season to get to see our fuzzy equine friends and where they live.

It seems giving horses some pumpkin as a natural dewormer gifted us with a pumpkin this year in our creek!
