My accountability partners are asking why I have Detroit Mobile Bar here during dry January.

What a long, strange trip it's been.

My first experience with was a road trip from Detroit to Burlington, VT with , a car-topper full of ski gear, and a plan to kick 2012 to the curb in a new town for the New Year. We slogged 11 hours through a Canadian snowstorm; arriving in the middle of the night at a little turquoise-blue house that was almost entirely covered by snowdrifts. Over 8 hours late for check-in, we landed squarely into the arms of our Host, .c.a.h.i.l.l. We were first-ever guests meeting a first-time-ever host: A perfect match.

It has been a lot of first times and a lot of best times in the many times that have followed but nothing better than my current adventure, which included shutting down to sell pretty much everything during COVID in order to create a horse farm in the forest that's specifically designed for people to visit. Thanks to my partner, my BFF, and the all-time-greatest enabler of ridiculous ideas, , for helping to welcome over 300 guests since opening .stables exactly one year ago today.
