Coach Garrett at Anytime Fitness Shrewsbury, PA spent 24 hours on a treadmill to raise awareness for su***de prevention and to remind others they’re not alone.
The journey, called Miles for Minds, supports Building Bridges for Brianna, a local nonprofit born from loss but fueled by hope.
Garrett’s run isn’t just about the miles. It’s about starting conversations, building community, and showing how one person’s story can inspire many.

One day, one man, one mission: 24-hour running challenge for mental health On Friday, Garrett, a York County man, started a 24-hour journey on a treadmill to show his support for su***de awareness.

"I've been an Anytime Fitness member since 2018, but as I approached 50, I struggled with weight gain and unhealthy habits. I discovered Shelly through Anytime's page and knew she was exactly what I needed.
After months of procrastinating, I took the intimidating step of asking for help. I started training with Shelly in September 2024, and through her guidance and a major diet change, I lost 35 pounds.
But what I've gained is even more impactful–confidence, discipline, and a real understanding of my workouts. Shelly explains proper form, progressive overload, and time under tension–concepts I thought I understood until I trained with her.
Her positivity, encouragement, and ability to educate while training are unmatched. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to work with her and for the positive changes she's helped me create."
