A heartfelt and huge congratulations to former ODS President, Edwin Miller on his Century ride at the Twin Rivers Summer Solstice Dressage Show in June.

Ed rode Michele Matzen’s "Fleetwood Magic" to earn this prestigious accomplishment. Both Ed and Michele are active members of the State of Jefferson Dressage Chapter serving the Medford and Jackson county area.

We are all very proud of you, Ed.

ODS is excited to announce that we are a Gold Level Sponsor of the Ginny Rattner Memorial Dressage & CDI3* Sherwood. Devonwood Equestrian Centre has been amazing at allowing us to host the annual Championship show at their venue for nearly 20 years. We are thankful for their partnership and look forward to the future with them.

We are delighted to share that the Oregon Dressage Society has signed-on as Gold Level Sponsors of the Inaugural Ginny Rattner Memorial Dressage & CDI3* Sherwood.

For close to 20 years, DevonWood has served as host venue of the annual ODS Championships & Open Show. As Oregon's dressage GMO, ODS is the biggest promoter of dressage sport in the state - and throughout the Pacific Northwest.

We are thrilled that the infrastructure ODS has built for our community over the past half-century has brought this caliber of competition to our state!

With the show season in full swing this is just a friendly reminder. If you want your scores to count toward the 2023 ODS Championship show you must be a member at the time the scores are earned. Thank you. (:

Championship Show will be held at DevonWood Equestrian Centre Sept. 9-10, 2023. More info. will be posted on the website calendar as it becomes available.

Heart of the Valley I & II are now open. Click the link to find out more.

So incredible. Thank you Devonwood Equestrian Centre for hosting the first ever CDI in Oregon and the first CDI in the PNW in over 25 years.

Thank you everybody for your interest and support of the inaugural Ginny Rattner Memorial Dressage & CDI3* Sherwood! We know you're all anxiously waiting for the online entry system to open.

For those of you intending to compete in the CDI (Int'l Competition): the CDI is *FULL* (and waitlisted). You must utilize the USA Dressage FEI Entry System to enter (waitlist) this competition. Canadians and other NFs should contact their NF/NGB to nominate you ASAP.

Because of how the secured FEI Stabling will be configured for this event, we cannot expand past 43 horses. Hence, the CDI waitlist status.

CDI Entries are OPEN: https://equestrian-hub.com/public/show/178771

Concussion Awareness and Helmet Safety Clinic 03/20/2023

I thought this might be of interest to our membership and all Riders. This is not an ODS sponsored event, but sharing as an important PSA.

I am reaching out on behalf of the Oregon Hunter Jumper Association as the co-chair of their education committee. We are putting on a free Helmet Safety and Concussion Awareness talk on April 1st at DevonWood Equestrian Center at 5pm. Gallops Saddlery has generously offered to donate so that we can provide drinks and appetizers. We have two fantastic speakers coming to discuss this important topic. Emily Kosderka has a Ph.D and specializes in coming back to riding after a concussion. It is not very often that we get to hear this information from an equestrian's perspective. Patty Cameron will also be giving a presentation on the importance of helmet fit. After the talks, staff from Gallops will be on hand to check helmet fit for anyone interested. I would really like as many riders to attend as possible from any discipline. Please consider sharing this to your membership. Tickets are free but required. Here is the link for tickets.
Thank you,
Serin von Marenholtz

Attention all competitors & volunteers. The Bears Above the Ground Show scheduled for this weekend has been canceled. Everyone entered should have received an email. Below is a portion of the email that went out to everyone.

We have bad news. Our Oregon weather is not cooperating and we, the Mid Valley Chapter of Oregon Dressage Society, out of an abundance of caution, are cancelling our 2023 Bears Above the Ground Show at DevonWood Equestrian Centre this weekend, February 25-26, 2023.

We are so sorry to disappoint everyone, but Show Management feels the current road conditions in the Portland Metro and Sherwood areas and the prediction of weather dropping into the teens with more freezing rain as a potential, make this the best decision to protect our volunteers, our competitors and their equine partners.

Please contact the show secretary with questions — [email protected]
ODS office and MVC will not be responding to questions on this FB feed.

Our apologies as this is a long over due post about the ODS sponsored Competition Workshop "On the Levels" and new test clinic with Janet Foy - It was nothing less than fabulous!

Janet was fun, encouraging, and extremely informative (the wealth of knowledge!) as she took the demo riders and the spectators through the new tests and the reasoning behind the changes in each level. The demo riders did a terrific job of riding and were beautifully turned out each day, and what a group of horses and riders to watch. All this in an absolutely gorgeous facility. So fun.

The Sunday format was a clinic, and was it ever interesting and informative - so much great information, exercises and insight. Everyone was taking notes like crazy.

The weekend was the perfect way to start the New Year. New tests, friends, beautiful horses & riders, great information from a world class Judge and clinician in a lovely arena. I don't know if it gets much better than that.

Thank you all for attending. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did. We'd love to have your input and impressions.

Looking forward to spending the weekend with all of you.

Audrey Goldsmith is unable to attend the Janet Foy clinic this weekend and has 3 tickets and 2 hotel rooms available. If you are interested please contact her directly. You can message her on FB.
