Thank you so much to Derby St Shoppes in Hingham for supporting South Shore Moves! It was a beautiful day for a walk around the Shoppes!
I just spotted a gentleman walking down Quincy Avenue near the Braintree line wearing his SSM shirt! Was it you? Looked like he was out for a lunch break walk with a couple colleagues. Way to keep moving!
Hey Movers! Our park walk is canceled due to rain but that doesn't mean you can't still workout: hit the gym, unroll your yoga mat, do jumping jacks in front of the TV. Just keep moving! Oh, and maybe you get your mom to join you. Happy Mother's day!
Tip Tuesday: Unless you do more than 60 to 90 minutes of exercise, sports drinks are basically just sugary sodium water. They contain lots of "empty calories" and they'll end up adding extra sugar into your day.
Fit Tip Tuesday: We get asked frequently about the "best time" to workout. Honestly, the best time is the time that YOU can make it work for YOUR schedule! I know for me if I don't get my workout in first thing in the morning, it won't happen. But if you are not a morning person, don't force yourself to be! No matter what time it ends up working for you, schedule it into your calendar and make it a non negotiable appointment.

Fit Tip Tuesday: The amount that you sweat does not necessarily correlate to how many calories you are burning. The more you sweat the more water you lose. Yes, sweating can be an indication that you’re working hard at the gym, but think about those summer days when it’s 102 outside, you’re dripping sweat, even before you start working out. Use target heart rate zones and RPE scales to gauge your workout, not sweat loss.
