Happy National Best Friends Day ☺️💙
We love watching swimmers build connections during their lessons! This is one of the many benefits to our weekly swim lesson structure.
Swimmers are able to build relationships and trust with not only their instructor but their fellow swimmers, as well! After a few 30 minute lessons together you can find your swimmer working together with their fellow swimmers and even cheering each other on during lessons!
Does your swimmer have a swim lesson bestie🏊♀️🏊?!
Tag their parents below and give them a shout out! 💙
The sun ☀️ is out and swim season is getting underway! But don’t forget to put safety first when you and your kids get into the water this summer.
Formal swimming lessons are one of the best ways to keep your kids water safe. That’s why, for children from 3 months to 12 years old, safe summer swimming starts at Big Blue Swim School.
At Big Blue, our qualified Swim Associates empower kids to build confidence in the water and out. So visit a Big Blue near you and start your kids’ summer off right!
Hey Big Blue Families!
As a reminder, all Big Blue Swim Schools will be closed today in observance of Memorial Day.
But don’t let that stop you from spending time in the water today! If you have swim lessons starting tomorrow, we will see you soon!☺️
Just a friendly reminder that all Big Blue Swim School pools will be closed this coming Monday, May 30th, in celebration of Memorial Day!
We hope you all have a safe and fun weekend! 🇺🇸
How important is wearing goggles during swim lessons? 🏊♀️
We encourage swimmers in our Bright Blue, Bold Blue, and Big Blue levels to all wear goggles. The earlier your swimmer starts to wear them, the more comfortable they will be. Here's what to look for when buying swim goggles for your kids:
💦Good, comfortable fit
💦 No leaks
When shopping for swim goggles, be sure to consider that style is something to look for, but good fit and comfort are most important when trying to stop leaks, and headaches.
"When is the right time to teach a baby to swim," is a question we get asked frequently.
At Big Blue, we believe in creating safer swimmers and working to lay the foundation for a lifetime of enjoyment in the water, starting at 3 months.

"I love this place. My grandchildren love it they have no more than three kids per instructor. They are detailed with the kids and they have fun with them. The kids love to go can't wait to see their instructors. I wish I could give it more than five stars. They treat you like family here!"
We are OPEN today and can't wait to see our Big Blue Families!
Reminder to parents who may need to reschedule their child's swim lesson for today: Use Big Blue's mobile app to conveniently schedule a make-up lesson! See the link below!
Can you believe it?
Ten years ago today on April 15th, 2012, Big Blue Swim School opened our very first swim school in Wilmette, Illinois🎉. Today, we have 12 locations across the country – and that number’s only growing!
Our secret? We couldn’t have accomplished any of that without YOU. This milestone is only possible thanks to the amazing students, families and employees that have helped us get to where we are today.
Read a message from our Founder and President, Chris DeJong, as he reflects on this BIG moment: "I was so excited to bring open our first pool in Wilmette. I can't believe it has already been ten years. The way the community has embraced our swim lessons has been truly humbling. It has been an honor to part of so many family's learn-to-swim journeys. I can't wait to see what the next ten years have in store."
So on this birthday, we want to blow out our candles with the amazing community we’ve built – and devote our birthday wish to you. If we could share a piece of cake (or 10☺️) with everyone, we would! 🎂💙
Sharing a friendly reminder that our pool will be OPEN for Easter Sunday, April 17th during regular hours!

One of the most asked questions we receive here at Big Blue Swim School is "When should I start my child in swim lessons?" Swim lessons are available to swimmers as young as three months old! "What do baby swim lessons look like?" you may wonder.
Let us explain:
You or a caregiver will accompany your child in the pool as our highly trained, professional Swim Associates lead you through core skills and activities designed to increase your child's comfort and confidence in the water.
This level will focus on preparing your child for parentless participation, from breath control to baby back float, watch as your child learns to hold their breath under water, crawl out of the pool, and push off the wall to swim independently!

Happy World Water Day 💦!
Maintaining a clean pool has always been a critical part of our operations. Our water filtration and sanitization systems go beyond standard pool operation protocol when it comes to keeping our water ultra-clean for swim lessons.
Our award-winning, LEED certified water filtration system keeps our pool water clean, removing even the tiniest of unwanted particles. What exactly does that mean?
💧Our water filter removes particles down to 1 micron in size. For comparison, a grain of sand is about 100 microns, pollen is about 30-50 microns, red blood cells are about 8 microns, and bacteria is about 2 microns.
💧The pool water cycles through our filtration system 6-8 times a day to ensure we are constantly churning out clean water into our pools
💧 After our water is filtered, it goes through an ultraviolet light (UV-C light, or germicidal light) sanitizer to kill any remaining bacteria and viruses.
💧 Our UV-C lights target harmful bacteria and other microorganisms to alter their DNA / RNA so they can’t reproduce. Without the ability to reproduce, they die.
In a nutshell, Big Blue uses top of the line water filtration and sanitation systems to keep our pools safe and clean, all while minimizing water waste and the use of chemicals that can irritate eyes and skin. 🙌🏼
