Hello,
I'm in the desert of Phoenix and just fascinated with the Corsair Trimarans and saw several for sale on Oahu.
Is there a club or blog I can go to look for a Corsair owner that can take me out on one?
I'll be going to Oahu soon and thought I would post this.
Thank you.
What is happening with the Pearl Harbor Yacht Club? Any updates? What has become of the website?
We are repeating the Racing Rules of sailing in Brief that we aired last Wednesday. Please join us at 6:00 pm Wednesday. Zoom meetings are now password protected to address some of the security problems we are reading about.
Hi Pearl Harbor Yacht Club! May I rent a laser for the upcoming HYSA # 1 race on March 7th?
Hi everyone! Just a reminder for this weekend's HYLA event at PYC. We will be towing the boat trailer to Hickam and back. We will be meeting at RBM 10-10:15 on Sunday 2/16 to load gear and pick up the trailer. Boats should be at Hickam around 11. Thanks everyone and see you racers on Sunday!
PHYC- Dylan would like to use a club boat for this weekends HYLA #3, please. Also, our membership application is in the mail. Thank you!!
The PHYC Commodore being inducted into the International Order of the Blue Gavel!! Congrats and well done Marcy!!!!
Mark your calendar and join the fun. A fundraiser for the Hawaii Youth Sailors on all islands. This once a year event rotates between the three big clubs on Oahu. This year it is at the Waikiki Yacht Club. If you have something to contribute to the auctions or just wish to contribute please contact the Club at 808-955-4405. Make sure to join us for the fun and help our youth sailors.
The one and only Merlin has again invited the Hawaii youth sailors to experience a sail on this historic boat on Wednesday July 24. First sail will be 10:00 am to noon and the second sail will be 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Please join us if you can. All juniors will need to bring their own life jacket. A giant mahalo to the new owner Chip Merlin for continuing this wonderful tradition of giving our youth sailors an opportunity to experience sailing on this legend. http://merlinyachtracing.com/
DATE CHANGE - Due to the Transpac party at the WYC on Thursday July 25 we will move the Robbie Haines talk to Wednesday July 24 at the Waikiki. Same time. 4:00 p.m. We hope to see you there.
All youth sailors are invited to a talk by Olympic Gold medal sailor and all around good guy Robbie Haines on Thursday July 25 at the Waikiki Yacht Club Youth Sailing Center at 4:00 pm. Robbie has won seven world championships in 4 different class of boats. He was associate producer and sailing team manager for the Walt Disney film "Morning Light". He was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for being a member of the 1980 US Olympic Sailing Team, which did not compete in the Soviet Union (Estonia) due to the boycott of the Olympic Games that year by President Jimmy Carter.
Haines, skipper of the Haines-Trevelyan-Davis team, received a gold medal in the Soling class at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.[1] Haines was inducted into the San Diego Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.[2] Robbie will ring his gold medal with him and talk about his time as a youth sailor at the San Diego yacht Club junior program and how he overcame his challenges to become such a great sailor. Robbie is a down to earth person who will answer any questions and has a rue love of sailing and want to help all of our youth sailors.
Hello sailors! Join us for a fun family beach day. We will be meeting June 8th at Bellow Field Beach Park on Bellows Air Force Station from 10:00AM-1:00PM. The address is 220 Tinker Rd, Waimanalo, HI 96795. Lunch will not be provided; however, feel free to bring your own lunch or there is a mini mart with Subway within walking distance.
Look for us to the left of the life guard stand (facing the water). If we have any changes or cancelations, this post will be updated. If anyone has questions please call or text me at (808) 364-5635. Hope to see you all there!

[09/11/20]   Good afternoon PHYC!

We are in the process of scheduling another Zoom “Rules of Racing” webinar. It’ll be free to our club members and very informational. This is a great way to learn the rule of racing (assuming we actually get to race again, ha!).

Please keep an eye out for a link in the coming days!

So wonderful to see the kids having a blast! They sailed out of Pearl Harbor in route to Hickam Harbor, by way of the open ocean! A fun time was had by all!

06/28/2020

It’s good to see our sailors back on the water! Thanks PYC for the invite!

[05/29/20]   Good afternoon Pearl Harbor Yacht Club! This is Erik. I just wanted to take a few seconds and drop a quick note about three things!

1) Last night a few friends gathered to bid a fond farewell to our out-going Commodore Marcy Lowthian. She and her crew are moving on as they embark on the next chapter of their lives in beautiful Washington! I wanted to take this opportunity to thank her officially on behalf of the club for everything she did in the capacity of Commodore. Her commitment and desire to see this club succeed was truly a blessing! We will miss her and wish her all the best!

2) As your in-coming Commodore I wanted to say Hi! If there is anything, you need from the club, please feel free to reach out to me and I will do my best to assist.

3) We will have a board meeting in the coming weeks. An agenda will be made available for you should you desire. In addition, complete minutes of that meeting will be provided as well. We have some important questions to address as we work through this time of transition, so stand by on more to follow.

Again, I am looking forward to serving alongside you all as we seek to make this club successful and watch out children grow in their sailing endeavors!

Cheers!

Erik

Thank you Pearl Lattanzi and JP Lattanzi for the wonderful Open Skiff Clinic. Our sailors improved greatly!!! Keep up the good work PHYC Race Team. Practice the drills you learned today and be prepared for the Baron’s Cup at Hawaii Kai Boat Club in March. The Open Skiff is a great boat with many opportunities.

[01/07/20]   Due to RBM closing sailing for the day, our Open Skiff Clinic will be held next Tuesday, January 14 from 3:30-5:30. We will expect the same group of people to attend unless you let us know otherwise. More sailors are also welcome.

We will have new membership forms available, as well as specific information for this years race team. If you are interested in participating in the racing team in any way, please come pick up the information. A brief club meeting will be held at 5:30 at the Sail Loft. If you can’t attend please contact us through FB or by phone to set up a time we can go over what to expect this season.

[01/05/20]   Aloha sailors. PHYC will be offering an Open Skiff clinic on Tuesday, January 7th from 3:30-5:30. We have some very accomplished Open Skiff sailors here in Hawaii and they have agreed
to come and get our sailors acquainted with this new boat. There will be demonstrations and practice with fine tune rigging, along with boat handling on the water. PHYC will be covering the cost of the clinic for our sailors. If you were a member last year and or plan to join our club this year, you are welcome to participate. There is an entire season of Open Skiff racing beginning in the next couple months. This is a fantastic boat for our smaller sailors with endless opportunities to compete all over the world. Please let me know if you plan to attend so we are adequately prepared.

12/21/2019

Here is an update on the races scheduled for this weekend. Some of our PHYC sailors will be competing. Good luck, the wind is howling!

Olivia had a wonderful season with them and has been encouraging our young Wahine sailors to join her next season. They are a wonderful, supportive and encouraging group of women. If you think you might be interested in joining the group, let Olivia know and she will be happy to provide you with more information as well as help get you familiar with the various boats that are sailed in the series. Until then, order yourself a shirt. 😁. You don’t have to be a member to order one, they are available to everybody.
