Interested in shooting a match, but don’t know how to get started? Remember all matches are open to the public and you do not need to be an expert shooter to shoot these. In fact we love introducing people to shooting sports. All of our match participants are very welcoming and helpful. We want to grow the sport as much as possible! Do not be intimidated! Shooting in competition is very, very fun. See some helpful steps below!

1. Check our calendar. All our matches are posted on the calendar each month and they occur on the same day every month. Here’s a link! https://www.brocksgap.com/index.php?submenu=_events&src=events&srctype=glance

2. Contact the match director for the match you are interested in. They will tell you everything you need to know and know to show you around when you arrive at the match. Here’s a link to all our match directors. https://www.brocksgap.com/main/match-directors/

3. Read up on our matches on our match info page. Here’s a link! https://www.brocksgap.com/main/monthly-matches/

4. Create a practiscore account and search ”Brock’s gap” in the upper left hand search box. This is not mandatory for your first match, but it’s a helpful tool that many of our matches use so you can register and squad ahead of time. You will want to use this after your first match if your match uses this tool. www.practiscore.com

5. DONT BE INTIMIDATED! You do not have to be John Wick to shoot with us. You have to be safe and we will make sure of that with our very experienced range officers, but you do not have to be an expert amazing shooter! This is a huge misconception in competitive shooting.

6. Some of our matches are open up to youth shooters. Contact us and find out more!

7. We have matches for everything! Precision, clays, action, carry gun, low light, cowboy, everything! You will find a match you like to shoot because we have it all! Come on out!

8. Your first match is always free for all Brock’s Gap matches.

9. Competitive shooting is social! When you go to the range by yourself you shoot your gun by yourself and go home. You may run into other people at the range and have a brief conversation, but that’s it. In a competitive shooting environment you are spending a couple of hours with a group of other people that like to shoot. Everybody is friendly and we all love helping new competition shooters.

10. Shooting competition does not have to be super expensive because of ammo prices. Yes, some of our matches have higher round counts, but not all. Also, we have many 22 matches available where ammo is much cheaper. Just ask the match director what the round count normally looks like in their match. It’s also published on the match info page.

11. Shooting has a wide range of ages participating in the same match. We have divisions for different ages in most of our matches, but you will find that they don’t matter as much as you think. Shooting is one sport where a 70 year old can beat a 20 year old even if there’s movement in the stage just because that 70 year old is a much better shooter.

12. As mentioned above many of our matches have divisions for ages. We also have divisions for skill so you can be matched against others of similiar skill and get ranked in that “class” of shooter for the match.

SEE YOU AT THE RANGE!
