A BIG THANK YOU to Kevin Hopkins and Eddie Underwood retired coaches of the White Lightning 01 Fastpitch Softball Girls softball team.for their generous donation to Second Shift today. After years of coaching and pouring into the lives of their daughters' and their teammates these men wanted to close out that chapter by assisting at-risk and aging-out foster care youth transition into adulthood. Their gift will be used toward our 30 Days of HomeFULLness fund to purchase a home for homeless youth!! Thanks for the legacy Coaches!! ... and thanks to the random dude who took our picture :)

The last supper!

Since 2010, we've been having the times of our lives.

July 28, 2018 was the final tournament for this team and the day was perfect - late start so we got to sleep in a bit, which is rare, the bats were on fire, the defense was phenomenal and the girls were undefeated at the end of the day.

More important than that, the girls are all really great friends, and we saw smiles and heard conversations and laughter all throughout the day. We also saw some tears and emotions at the end of the night which tells you that it really was something special.

For anyone who was ever a part of this team, we thank you for taking part and creating lasting memories.

A handful of girls on the final team had doubled in age since the start of this team. Some days, the coaches felt like they had doubled in age. Nothing left to do now but enjoy the memories and think back fondly of every second we had with this team - it has gone by in a flash.

If you were at that last game tonight - you witnessed something special. Incredible fight and an incredible amount of fun. This game had it all! These women are amazing - proud to be on the field with them. Credit to MG for the picture editing - LOL!

Prospex Exposure - SUPER POOLS - was super fun! Hats off to the Firecrackers (Ingram), a phenomenal team! Our other two games we competed well and had our first multiple homerun game thanks to Alyssa and Emily. The bats were coming alive and the girls are really stepping up their energy level - Looking forward to finishing up in Brandon, MS in a couple of weeks.

These girls put up a heck of a fight in the last game. Very proud of all of them for fighting til the end and leaving it all on the field. Now on to Florence next weekend.

W/L 01 and W/L 06 together in Tennessee for the weekend. It's like going back in time seeing these young ladies early in their travel ball careers!

A late shout out to The Show Elite to say thanks for a great tournament yesterday. It was very well run, good umpires, good competition, and good hospitality. We really enjoyed it and the final game was a great display of good defensive fundamentals. Congrats to The Show on the win!

Chattanooga, Fall 2016

Lost out 2-1 this morning, but one of our best bracket games ever. These girls came to play this weekend - the hitting was great and the defense was spectacular. The best part was the team unity. They really seemed to be supportive of and playing for one other in each game. There were some really exciting offensive and defensive performances to watch from this group. Overall, we couldn't have asked for more from this team - SO PROUD!!!

Triple Crown Southeastern Nationals this week - final tournament of 14U - hard to believe! There are some great teams at this prestigious tournament and we are competing very well. 1-1 in pool play so far. This is a very close-knit, unselfish group of young women and it's a privilege to be on the field with each of them.

The PGF Exposure in Brandon, MS came to an abrupt close after severe weather on Saturday. We only got 2 out of 5 games in, but it was a fun trip anyway. It was by far the wildest weather event we've been subject to at a softball tournament in the history of the team.

Very proud of this team through the first three tournaments - winning the 1st one and competing well in the 2nd and 3rd. Three tourneys on back to back to back weekends takes a toll and we're happy to have a weekend off. We're really looking forward to getting back to the process in about 10 days at our first ever PGF event. This is a very hard working, unselfish group of players. Win or lose, they are a joy to watch.
