I'm still alive everyone! Since I moved in August I haven't been able to get a new shop set up for knife making. I am working on it though. In the meantime would anyone be interested in me posting some of my other hobbies? Woodworking, truck modifications, off-roading... Might even change the name to Longleaf Outdoors.

The new Longleaf Blades HQ! Not very impressive right now. 😂
Finished up! Only took 3-4 months. This will be the last one until I get moved and a new shop set up.

Quick update. I'm still alive!!! I'll be back in action this weekend.
After a lot of harrassment from everyone, I pulled this one out of the trash and finished it up. It's definitely not where I wanted it to be but it is still a nice knife. This knife is for my buddy He is the one that made the Alabama flag inspired handle. One of the reasons I wanted to make this perfect is because it's for a friend and for a fellow maker.
People give me a hard time for being too picky or being too hard on myself. I've only got two modes. All in or all out. If I walk in to my shop I put every bit of effort I can into my work. It sucks when it is not enough. When it happens, I just regroup and start over. Remember everyone, put everything you have in to something. If it isn't enough, it's not the end of the world. Just keep your head up and give it another go. Most of the time, like with me, you are the only one that thinks it wasn't good enough. Thanks for all of the support everyone. @ Birmingham, Alabama
Oh, we fancy! Just kidding... That's a cheap box I burned and oiled. But it goes great with the spalted yellow birch handle. @ Birmingham, Alabama
I finished up this stainless steel 6" chef knife this afternoon. Hopefully it's new owner will get a lifetime of use out of it.
Here is a daylight and dark photo of little man's"knife". He absolutely loved it! @ Birmingham, Alabama
Check it! I made this for my son. He turns five in a few days and has been wanting his own knife. I made the "blade" out of G10 and the handles are glow in the dark resin. Everything is rounded and smooth for safety. Don't get it wrong though! If you try to run up on him you might get stuck.
I put some pants on her this morning. It'll be going to it's new owner tomorrow.
I couldn't come up with a good caption today. So, here is a knife. If you want to read the cool story behind the handle read the caption from yesterday's video.
This knife was a special request from a friend. His father passed away a few months ago and he had some of the flowers from the funeral put into clear resin that I used for the handle. It's nice being able to make something that will mean so much to someone. The blade is made of 1/8" thick AEB-L stainless steel. I'm going to make a leather sheath for it. Should I go black or brown?
A little before and after. Well, technically an after and before in this order. I reground, blasted, and gun blued the blade. Then I sanded and refinished the handle. Of course, I had to put some pants on the blade. Safety first. @ Birmingham, Alabama
This one is not for sale. I made it for a special lady . Hopefully she keeps enjoying my sense of humor and doesn't use this knife against me one day. I wish I could have gotten a better picture to show the colors on the handle. This one didn't do it justice.
I was sanding down some cool stuff this weekend. Hopefully I'll have some finished photos soon.
I promise I'll be working on knives tomorrow. I've been hanging around too many job sites lately.
I finally cleared the bench of my July orders... Maybe a few days late. Next week I'm going to give stainless a try for the first time.
I'll slap some pants on this one this weekend and ship it off to it's new owner.
Finally!!! Finally!!! I finished all three of these gorillas. These take wayyyy longer than I remembered.
I haven't been posting much because of my busy schedule but here are some pictures of past builds to get you through. I'll be back in the shop this weekend and I plan on finishing up two more gorillas so they can ship off to their owner.

I'm digging this gorilla with satin finish and bocote scales.
Got a few going on today. I'm hoping to have these 100% complete this week.
This small evergreen turned out perfect.
Here is a little detail video of the handle. It is made from dyed and stabilized black ash burl. I added in a layer of black G10 for a little extra durability and thickness.
A quick sharpening and this one is all finished. @ Birmingham, Alabama
I made some progress on this chef's knife tonight. Slowly but surely.
Sometimes your family heirloom just needs a little TLC. This is a vintage, traditional, Norwegian knife known as a puukko. This was brought to the US and given to one of my neighbors as a gift a little over 40 years ago. Hopefully it stays around another 40. @ Hoover, Alabama
This one is finally finished. I had some issues with tape lines on the blade and ended up having to refinish it. Any other makers have recommendations on their favorite tape? I've tried painter's, masking, and electrical. But they all leave marks on my acid wash blades.
There are still a few things to do on this one but it's getting close.
Here is a quick video of the knife and sheath that I posted yesterday. Now I need to come up with a name for this one...🤔 Any suggestions?
I finished this bad dude up earlier this week. I had to wait to post anything about it due to it being a Father's day gift. I hope it is enjoyed for a long time.
I put some pants on her today. This one is not for sale. I'm doing a little trading with a homie. Stay tuned for that.
Man! This one has fought me the entire process. I'm glad it's done. I really hope no one else wants one like it. 😂
