Most of you identify me as your wise Yoga Teacher or compassionate Wellness Advocate. Some of you know me as a proficient Community Organizer from Founding the Hot Springs Farmers Market or Co-Founding Black Hills Sustainable Living, where I hosted Earth Day Films and Initiatives such as Ditch the Disposables, Black Hills Friends of Pollinators & Fall River Stewards.
But, did you know…I enjoy even more passions that don't always make it onto social media?
I’ve held a deep affection for Art, Creativity and Nature my entire life (okay, you probably know by now that I love the natural world, since I weave it into everything I do — personally, professionally and spiritually).
I’ve never called myself an artist even though I won Scholastic Art Awards in High School and was invited to a special summer program for gifted students! That defining experience changed everything (a story responsible for shifting my entire career path and for another day).
Recently, I dove back into my love of creative expression by joining an online class taught by my good friend Deborah Fryer. Here’s a peek at what's unfolding on my easel.
What I treasure most about rekindling my artistry, is the joy and freedom I feel in the expression. I wasn't doing it for display; I played to unleash a part of me that felt constrained by responsibility.
It feels so inspiring, liberating and nourishing to be musing with color and my imagination again. So when my friend Cary Thrall, invited me to help bring her new pilot program, WanderWild: Art + Trail, to Hot Springs, it was an easy yes!
Creativity, nature, and community, all in one? That's music to my ears.
This fall, Radiant Health Yoga & Wellness Studio is thrilled to host a FREE 3-part series blending time in nature with a guided creative process. Each gathering starts at the studio, then we head out — maybe along Fall River, maybe somewhere else beautiful nearby — to connect with the land before being led through a fun exploratory, experiential activity.
