Diamond Fury Elite 06 wraps up the season at the World Fastpitch Championships in Kansas City. What a run we had at the end with 3 Top 10 finishes and one top 12.
World Fastpitch Championships - 9th Place (70 Teams)
TCS Southwest Nationals - 2nd Place
Texas Fastpitch League Championship - 9th Place
Colorado Sparkler - 11th Place (110 teams)
We started the season with essentially a new team. It took through the fall and into early summer for the group to come together. They would give losses to top ranked teams and tough games to those we lost to. We had 6 girls go yard multiple times through the season wreaking havoc on opposing pitchers.
GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT is an understatement for these young ladies. Several times throughout the summer these ladies received unknown compliments from former coaches and former parents from past teams on how good they have become and how their mechanics have improved.
It was amazing to see the transition from September to July.
Thank you to all of the parents for allowing your daughters to follow their dreams. Thank you for believing in the program and not judging the beginning of the season, but instead reflecting on the finish. Thank you for all the sacrifice in time and money that goes into this sport. Thank you to Coach T for pushing these girls to be their absolute best and never settling for mediocre.
We look forward to the upcoming 16U season and breaking hearts as we continue to grow and get better.
Cheers to a great finish on the season!!
It’s been a while since I have provided a post tournament update so I thought I would do them all at once. Here is your Post COVID-19 Tournament Recap.
Diamond Fury Elite 06 has been playing in the most competitive tournaments since our return from the Covid-19 shutdowns. Although it has been up and down with consistency, the team has managed to make ALL of the top Gold or Elite brackets. Our first tournament back started with the competitive and loaded Hotshots Invitational. After a rough start going 1-3 in pool play the future looked bleak. However, in bracket and over the next 5 games the girls would do much better missing the final 4 by an ITB loss. The girls earned 5th place after fighting back from a rough start.
The next weekend found us in the National Prep Tournament. The girls had some amazing games with 8 home runs (4 in one game). Savannah C, Lola W., Aubrey Y., Lele N., and Mia D. all hit home runs with Lola collecting 3 and Mia 2. Savannah C, Jocelyn B. and Lola W. were smoking the ball all batting in the .500's. Aubrey Y. and Lele N. contributed with home runs, RBI's and several doubles with both batting in the mid .400's. Our pitching and fielding struggled at times, but the rust was on its way out.
We left the National Prep Tournament on Sunday after playing 7 games over 2 days and drove to Dallas for the Triple Crown State Championship. We would play 6 games over the next 3 days putting up a total of 47 runs scored (7.8 runs/game). Pitching and defense saw definite improvement Savannah C. pitched 21 innings allowed 4 earned runs, tallied 28 strikeouts and finished the tournament with a 1.355 ERA. Sarah A. and Lele N. were consistent all week hitting 0.833 and 0.500 for the tourney. Lele and Meiko D. both went yard at critical moments in tough games. Meiko racked up 8 RBI's. Jocelyn B., Aubrey Y., Mia D., Savannah C. and Miley S. all contributed with there sticks hitting in the upper .300's. Sarah A. was on fire going 10/12 with a 0.833 average, 0.889 OBP, 1.167 SLG and a 2.056 OPS. We found another 5th place finish, but ultimately got a good look at team capabilities.
Two days later we found ourselves in the Texas Summer Cup. The tournament got rained out, but not before we got in 5 games. We took first in pool which moved us into the Gold Bracket. Savannah C. would stay hot pitching 13 innings. Savannah tallied up 16 strikeouts while only walking 3 in the 56 batters faced. Savannah finished with a 1.537 era allowing 3 runs total. Meiko D. couldn't be stopped. Meiko hit 0.625 for the tourney while going yard once. Aubrey Y. stayed hot putting up RBI's and hitting 0.417. Jocelyn B, Lele N., Lola W. and Sarah A. maintained consistent sticks all hitting in the mid .300's.
Our next tournament found us in the Colorado Sparkler. The girls took 3rd in a 7 team pool and moved to the top (Gold) bracket. Over the course of the tournament, we saw some amazing defense with multiple double plays between our middles and outstanding outfield catches and plays. Mikenna S. got back into her swing hitting 0.545 for the tourney. Lele N. and Meiko D. stayed hot hitting 0.412 and 0.333 for the tournament. Mia D. was crushing the ball hitting 0.600 for the tourney. Mia would go 4/4 in a tough game where her stick contributed to the win. Aubrey Y. found her command pitching in 5 games and facing 100 batters. Aubrey gave up a LOW 3 walks over 349 pitches averaging 3.49 pitches/batter.
The girls will be playing in mid-week TFL games this week and will practice this weekend. We are looking forward to Triple Crown Southwest Nationals next week.

Diamond Fury Elite 06 played in the Hotshots Invitational Thursday through Sunday evening. This event was stacked with some of the best teams around and from multiple states. Pool games proved to be the rust remover after not practicing for two straight months as we took last in our pool. We would fair well in bracket play all the way up to the final four undefeated teams where we gave up a 3-1 lead with 2 outs in the 7th to go to ITB and lose by one to Hotshots Premier.
We finished 5th overall walking away with with a new mindset.
We will play 7 tough games this weekend and then head for Plano,TX as we play in the TCS Texas State Championship Monday thru Wednesday. This team will play a lot of softball in the next 8 weeks.
Anyone that knows this team knows to look for us at Nationals. It’s not a sprint it’s a marathon.
