It was such a beautiful and informative event bringing mothers and families as well as birth workers and maternal and family health professionals together to support and educate each other in the same space. As a mother, maternal health advocate, and community leader, I wear many hats—but all with the same mission: to uplift, educate, and empower. Whether I’m speaking on a maternal health panel, accepting an award for supporting families in Alief, or chairing the City of Houston’s Local Action Plan for My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Milestone One, my focus is clear—ensuring every child enters school ready and every mother and family has the tools to thrive. My work, alongside some of the best and most passionate, bridges lived experience and public health practice, blending research, community voice, and policy to address disparities and drive real change. I lead with both heart and purpose, committed to shaping systems that center equity, dignity, and wellness for all.

Got a late night call from two new young parents with a 3 day old baby girl! They needed postpartum and lactation support and The Mama Mission was just one phone call away.
