This morning we took on the Hill - a great test of both physical fitness and mental toughness. The Hill’s vertical rise doesn't seem like much until you combine it with an hour long F3-style beatdown. It's a great way to start the weekend. The coffeteria, breakfast and fellowship after was even better. Thank you men for coming out and striving to make yourselves 1% better. As always, if any men in the area are interested in joining a (free) men's workout group, please consider coming out to see us. You won't regret it. DM me with any questions.

Today was Outlast at the Flightline. Outlast is a challenge to complete six 5Ks in six hours. A new 5K starts every hour on the hour. If you finish one before the next one starts, you rest in the meanwhile. According to the official rules, you must complete all six and if you don’t finish one in time you’re out. But at the Flightline, we modify if necessary so everyone was invited to run, walk, crawl, etc. as much or as little as possible. Of the roughly dozen racers (including several from F3 Lake Houston) some did 3, 6, 9, or 12 miles and three completed all 18 miles in the six hours. Congratulations Gaston, Bugs and Mountaineer! And a job well done to everyone who got out of bed this morning, made an appearance and put in a few miles. A good time was had by all.

It was Vietnamese Soup day at the Flightline as our good friend (Bad Mo) Pho (Ted Vuong) returned! While I’m not sure he’s yet in love with the colder temps up north, I’m sure he’s not exactly missing the steaminess we “enjoy” in the Gloom in H-Town. Great to have you back Pho and I know the Flightliners will be excited (😬) to experience a Pho-style beatdown Monday. For any lurkers out there, or our fellow men in the Lake Houston Region AOs (F3 Lake Houston), come get some.

Today brought a Flightline first - dodgeball! There were different exercises for each color ball - if you were hit (I was hit a lot). The good new is despite our collective age, we managed to avoid any (serious) injuries. Not bad for a bunch of middle age jokers playing a kids' game, with an F3 Lake Houston exercise twist. Average BPM 118 & burned 300 calories ... from dodgeball. A fun beatdown Bad Company (Brett Key).

It's always great to see a Friendly New Guy meet us in the Gloom, let alone two. On Friday, Austin Powers and Bob the Builder joined us for their inaugural beatdown and helped Leech celebrate his 43rd birthday in style - 43 reps of each exercise (at least he didn't make us do 43 burpees). If anyone else out there is looking to get in shape or make a few friends, please come out and join us. You'll get a silly name too! Feel free to reach out with questions or just show up. See you in the Gloom.

Today is the one year anniversary of the first Mt. Groves hill beatdown hosted by the Flightline. Very cool & looking good, Brett Key and Ted Vuong. A hill beatdown is one you won't soon forget. If anyone out there is interested in joining a free men's workout group (or if any F3-ers in the F3 Lake Houston or NoHo regions are looking for a new challenge) a hill beatdown is a great place to start. We'll update when we schedule the next one, but in the meanwhile feel free to join us for any of our regular beatdowns M/W/F.

What a difference a few days can make. This week saw the return of shorts and short sleeves as Bad Company (Brett Key) brought back an oldie but a goodie for the eleven men who met in the Gloom on Wednesday. Yours truly hit 150+ BPM and had to slow down on the burpees as we finished up. How embarrassing. I'll do better next year when this beatdown comes around again. Nice work men.

While I thought the weather for the Mt. Groves beatdown was crisp, this morning put it to shame. Nine men met in the gloom and its 24 degrees this morning in a true showing of intestinal fortitude. The beatdown was solid (so was the soundtrack Brett Key) but the camaraderie was better. Thanks for the motivation men.

For any lurkers out there, please reach out with any questions or just come out any morning and join us. You won’t regret it.

It was a crisp morning on Saturday, January 18 - perfect for a Mt. Groves beatdown. Fourteen men met in the Gloom and attacked the hill with vigor. It hits different when you stay on the hill's incline, avoiding the flat top and bottom. If you're looking for a physical challenge with your fellow men - all abilities welcome (modify as necessary, we say), please come join us for free, peer-led, bootcamp style workouts outdoors @ 5 am in Eagle Springs. You can call or text or just message us here. We hope to see you out there.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. If you're looking to work off a few extra cookies, resolve to get in shape for the New Year, or just make a few friends, please consider joining us Monday and Wednesday at the Athletic Pool in Eagle Springs or Friday at the Insperity Sports Complex between Groves Elementary and West Lake Middle for a peer-led bootcamp-style men's workout group. Start time is 5:00 am sharp. It's a great way to fit in a workout before starting the work day. Feel free to message us if you have any questions. Hope to see you out there!
