Here’s the safest way to carry your little one 👶

The way you carry your newborn baby can significantly impact their development, posture, and overall strength ✨

From birth, babies rely on neck and lumbar reflexes to move, feed, and build a foundation for strong muscles and healthy movement patterns.

The lumbar reflex plays a crucial role in spinal motion, directly influencing posture and mobility as your child grows.

The muscles at the base of the skull also help shape the head, develop the face and airways, and create space for teeth.

Proper early reflex stimulation is essential for a well-balanced, functional body.

However, certain birth experiences—like long or short labor, C-sections, or forceps delivery—can affect these reflexes, leading to challenges such as latching difficulties, vomiting, or skull asymmetry.

Osteopathy offers gentle, effective support. By addressing these imbalances early, we help your baby grow with more ease, strength, and balance — laying the groundwork for healthy development. 💛

This is a wee bit biased…but there are some beautiful truths woven in.
Babies ARE born with very little Vitamin K because their bodies don’t start making it right away. One of the many question marks in creation. In the womb, babies get all their nutrients from the placenta, but Vitamin K doesn’t cross the placenta very well. Vitamin K is super important for things like blood clotting (think of it as nature’s bandaid, babies just don’t get enough of it before birth.
Additionally, babies are born with a “sterile” gut, meaning there are no bacteria in their intestines yet. And Vitamin K is partly made by friendly bacteria that live in our digestive systems. Since babies don’t have these bacteria right away, they can’t produce Vitamin K on their own at first. They picked day 8 to start that production. We encourage you to research all the pros and cons and ask questions…that’s true informed consent.
Because of this, you’ll get to make the choice on rather or not you feel vitamin k is the right choice for your baby.
It takes a village…start at The Shire
