Alkek Velodrome

FNR #2 LCYCL Night was a huge success. We had 5 fields of racers.

Our under 12 Youth racers took part in a Chariot race, Scratch race, and a Big Brother race.

Our 18 and under Junior racers took part in a traditional Omnium.

The adults had a 6 lap scratch, elimination race, and a win n out.

Everyone came together at the end of the night to take part in the Crawl race won by Koh.

Racing is back Friday May 8th for sprint night.

We had Omnium format Scratch, Elimination, and Points race.

In the women’s field Afton Shelton Attayi won the overall!

The pro open field Andy Maidment won the overall!

Semi pro men was won by Ken Adam’s!

It was a beautiful morning of training for the Alkek Velodrome Junior Cycling Team.

The Lawson Craddock Youth Cycling League Spring camp is on! Our Spring Break Camp is a more advanced track skills and fitness program. If you have a new rider that would like to try the track, please look out for our summer sessions starting the second week of June. More pictures are on the way. A motorcycle will be involved. Just one week until our first-ever Neon Nights Ride!

Join us on Saturday, March 7 at 6:45 p.m. at Sugar Land Memorial Park for a family-friendly evening of glowing bikes and community fun.

Decorate your bike, bring the kids, and enjoy a relaxed ride through the park. This isn’t about speed, it’s about smiles, laughter, and lighting up the night together.

Let’s make our first Neon Nights ride one to remember!

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jim Martins, a beloved member of the Alkek Velodrome community, who left us in mid-December. He will be remembered as a remarkable friend and teammate by all. Notably, Jim was a phenomenal sprinter and held the 2012 UCI M70-74 Flying 200 World Record with a time of 12.02s, set in Colorado Springs, CO. A memorial service will be held in his honor on January 24, 2026, at 3pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 4703 Shadowdale Drive, Houston, TX.

Track maintenance starts this week. No access for training until all repairs are complete.
