Nietzsche argued that the driving force behind human behavior is a will to power, “der Wille zer Macht.” The expression has been abused by many a group, its meaning manipulated for various purposes. His own meaning was characteristically complex, but I understand it to be something like the will to growth or self-mastery. The will to self-perfection...if you will. Whether or not his theory was correct or I interpret him accurately, surely something like this will, this drive towards self-perfection, is an aspect of our nature. I, myself, am well acquainted with it. I am in the business of cultivating and serving it, in myself and others alike.
One way to serve this will is through the development -- the perfecting -- of our physical bodies. After all, the Greeks considered physical perfection to be an expression of high character, and the exercise of developing it a practice of virtue. Whatever your beliefs, there is simply no doubt that physical and mental wellness are deeply connected. If you’re interested in improving your body and mind, in exercising your will to self-perfection, I’m your guy.
With certifications in Animal Flow, Stick Mobility, and TRX Suspension Training, on top of my WITS Personal Training education through UT Austin, I am dedicated to helping people like yourself cultivate this drive in the form of physical fitness.
