We are grieving the loss of one of our founding teachers, my first Iyengar yoga teacher, George Purvis (Tortuga Grande) has moved on to the great somewhere out there. My first yoga teacher. You never forget your first. He would laugh at that cheekiness as we laughed a lot in his classes. How do Iyengar yogis mourn loss? Constance had us honor George with Backbends. If you've ever had a backbend class with George, you will have done your Maximum! (as Guruji instructed) "Just 3 more backbends. I lied. Now give me 2 more." And we did. So in memory of George, we lay on the floor, put our feet on the chair and up we went. You are free. George is free! We honor you, George. We love you.

Congratulations to Constance Braden and HIYS for 30 Years of Iyengar Yoga in Houston. We celebrated with a Pot Luck before the snow came. Jimena did a great job Milagro Yoga Add the group pic! Thanks to everyone who joined in the celebration.

We are sad to announce the passing of our beloved friend and teacher, Joyce Jones. Joyce died Tuesday, October 1 after a long struggle with Parkinsons. She continued to teach until this last year, inspiring her students to continue their practice in spite of all obstacles. We are plannng a memorial get-together at the Studio to be held on October 20 at 6:00pm. If you are unable to attend, but would like to share a memory, please do so in the comments and we will read them at the event
