For athletes the ability to self-organize their body in order to produce force in the right direction, at the right time, and in limited ground contact times is absolutely critical. Practicing re-directing force from horizontal to vertical vectors helps teach athletes to re-configure their posture, angle of attack, and positioning in order to adjust to demands of alternating deceleration and acceleration. Ultimately helping develop the necessary physical characteristics to change speeds quickly on the field and master proprioception (control/awareness of where your body is in space)
