Today we celebrate National Adaptive Sports Day—and for me, that means shining a light on one of the most incredible spaces I get to be part of: adaptive scuba 🌊💙
Because underwater, everything changes. Gravity fades, limits shift, and what might feel impossible on land becomes freeing, fluid, and full of possibility. Adaptive scuba isn’t just about diving—it’s about independence, confidence, and redefining what “able” really looks like.
I’ve had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the courage, determination, and pure joy that happens beneath the surface. It’s not about what someone can’t do—it’s about everything they can do, and then some.
Also… let’s be honest, it’s pretty hard to have a bad day when you’re floating weightless, blowing bubbles, and high-fiving your dive buddy mid-ocean.
Here’s to breaking barriers, building community, and proving that adventure belongs to everyone.

This weekend Denver Divers hosted an Underwater Poker Tournament for Denver Adaptive Divers — because normal fundraisers are overrated. We decided to raise the stakes… by sinking the tables. Turns out poker is a lot harder when you’re 12 feet underwater. Yes, we actually weighted poker tables to the bottom of the pool, and those shiny metal washers doubled as poker chips. Cards, scuba gear, and a whole lot of questionable poker faces behind dive masks.
The real winning hand? Supporting Denver Adaptive Divers! This is one of many fundraisers that helps fund training through the SSI Classified Diving Program. The Classified Diving program helps make SCUBA more accessible to individuals with disabilities and allows them the opportunity to experience the freedom and adventure of scuba diving.
Huge thanks to everyone who showed up, suited up, and played a hand (or tried to…) underwater. Turns out bluffing is even harder when you’re communicating in hand signals. 🫧🃏

Some people have a work-life balance… I have a role collection 😂
Dog mom 🐶 (full-time treat dispenser)
Marathon runner 🏃♀️ (powered by caffeine and stubbornness)
ICU nurse 🩺 (calm in chaos, expert multitasker)
SCUBA instructor 🤿 (breathing underwater? Casual.)
Up bright and early this morning teaching a seminar on SSI Classified Diving programs and why adaptive diving isn’t just beneficial—it’s for EVERYONE. Because the ocean doesn’t care about labels, limits, or land legs 🌊💙
Different hats, same mission: show up, lift others, and dive (or run) headfirst into what matters. Now… who’s ready for a nap? 😴✨
