Depression and su***de are real issues facing lawyers today. We have lost too many people recently to mental health issues. The state bar and TLAP have put together a great CLE on What Lawyers Need to Know About Depression and Su***de and it is available for the next year for free at TexasBarCle. Be sure to watch it or pass it on to a person you know that could use the information. It is a good way to get free CLE hours.

I was honored to be appointed to the State Bar Nominations and Elections Subcommittee this year. Yesterday, we had a very difficult decision to make in Austin beween six very qualified candidates for the president-elect position. We voted to recommend the nomination of Jeanne Cezanne “Cezy” Collins of El Paso and Larry P. McDougal Sr. of Richmond as candidates for 2019-2020 State Bar of Texas president-elect. The subcommittee will bring our recommendation to the Board at the September meeting in Austin.

Thrilled to be back in Austin for the State Bar Board PDP/CLE Committee Retreat. For a longhorn this view is always the best!

Excited to be at my first State Bar Professionalism Committee meeting and learning about the statewide Day of Civility April 20, 2018. Great way to reaffirm the Texas Lawyer’s Creed and to promote attorneys to conduct themselves with the utmost courtesy and professionalism toward judges, adversaries, peers, work-place colleagues, clients, and other counsel and their clients.

Enjoyed the Texas Access to Justice Commission Luncheon with the Supreme Court today which kicks off pro bono week. Learned about the Joe Jamail Endowment for Veteran Legal Services and how the Texas Access to Justice Commission has been helping in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Excited to be part of such a great group helping out.
