In honor of wrapping up a great summer internship season, we’re spotlighting Witt Wood, one of our Summer Analysts at Brookfield Properties Houston.

Witt brought curiosity, focus, and a thoughtful approach to everything he worked on—and left behind a piece of advice we hope our future interns carry with them:

“The best understandings come from simple explanations. If you can’t explain something simply, you probably don’t understand it fully. So master it until you can.”

Meet Austin Copas and Witt Wood, two standout interns spending the summer with Brookfield Properties Houston!

Austin is a rising senior at Texas A&M University studying Business Management with a focus on Entrepreneurial Leadership. He’s passionate about innovation, leadership, and gaining hands-on experience in commercial real estate.

Witt is a rising junior at Washington and Lee University majoring in Business and Politics. With a strong interest in real estate investment and fund management, he’s excited to grow his skills and make an impact.

We’re thrilled to have both Austin and Witt on the team this summer!

🌱 Small actions add up to big results!

During the April 2025 Sustainability Challenge, tenants across Brookfield Properties’ Houston portfolio completed 315 conservation actions, saving 2,249 kWh of energy! ⚡️👏

From switching off unused lights to cutting back on single-use plastics, these everyday choices made a measurable impact.

Thank you to everyone who took part in making our buildings more sustainable. Together we’re creating a greener, more energy-conscious future, one action at a time.

Did you know Brookfield Properties has 41 honeybee hives and native bee homes on rooftops across our North American office properties?

They are a key part of our efforts to support the natural environment around our properties and create healthier, higher-quality spaces for our tenants and our communities.

Our Brookfield Properties team had an incredible time partnering with Houston Habitat for Humanity to build a custom playhouse for a local family. From measuring and painting to hammering and laughing, it was a meaningful day of teamwork, creativity, and giving back.

Our Brookfield Properties Houston team recently completed our third volunteer event with Kids' Meals, Inc., where we helped package nutritious meals for children across the city.

Kids’ Meals’ mission is to end childhood hunger in Houston by delivering free healthy meals, year-round to the doorsteps of Houston’s hungriest preschool-aged children and through collaboration, provide their families with resources to end the cycle of poverty. We’re proud to support such a meaningful mission. Thank you, Kids’ Meals, for the opportunity to give back and make a difference in our community.

On April 5, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society proudly hosted their Big Climb event at Three Allen Center. This event is more than just a stair climb—it’s a powerful experience of unity, resilience, and remembrance.

As participants paused on the 9th floor, we took a moment to honor those we’ve lost to blood cancer. Knowing that every nine minutes someone loses their battle weighs heavily on us. We climbed in their memory and for a future where every patient not only survives but thrives.

We were honored to welcome Houston Texans defensive end Dylan Horton ( #92), who shared his journey of being diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and returning to the field after his remission in March 2024. Dylan’s story served as a powerful reminder of the strength and hope that each climb embodies.
