Houston Adventure Racing is dedicated to bringing you the best of AR. Whether it's training, racing, or the lasted gear and gadgets, tune in and Get Some!

Training Camps cover skills and techniques unique to our sport. We start with the No 1 rules of AR! (There are more than one!) We cover the successful components of Team Dynamics. Then work through Transition Areas, Box Organization, Food preparation and packaging.

Almost go time!!!

Expedition Canada Schematics/Logistics.
Well teams now have a better idea of what they’re in for at the Expedition Canada. I suspect there will be a few teams thinking, we should have done more Packraft training as it could be key in this race. It’s certainly a complex course and one that will keep teams on their toes. Hopefully the big Treks are on technical terrain with difficult Nav.
Stage 1 - Mtb - 46km.
Stage 2 - Trek - 13km.
Stage 3 - Mtb - 52km.
Stage 4 - Packraft? - Total 80km - P 40km - T 14km - P 19km - T 1.5 - P 3.5 - T 1.5.
Stage 5 - Mtb - 87km.
Stage 6 - Trek - 73km.
Stage 7 - Packraft 51km
Stage 8 - Mtb Portage 64km. So I’m guessing they are biking with Packrafts.
Stage 9 - Packraft - 17km - 9km Trek out and 8km Paddle back?
Stage 10 - Mtb - 36km.
Stage 11 - Trek/Ropes - 62km.
Stage 12 - Mtb - 63km.
Stage 13 - Trek - 8km - Loop sp possibly a Rogaine?
Stage 14 - Mtb - 114km.
Stage 15 - Paddle - 8km - looks like a fun Canadian Canoe stage.
Stage 16 - Run ( Yeah right ) 1km to Finish.
It looks like it will be a fast start before getting into what I presume is a Packraft stage ( Stage 4 ) that will start to sort the field out. While there is almost 200km of Mountain Biking in the first half of the race I expect it will be the Stage 4 Packraft, Stage 6 73km Trek and then another 51km Paddle that are likely to decide who goes into the second half of the race in a good position. From Stage 10 Mountain Biking dominates but the Stage 11 62km Trek/Rope will be important and if teams aren’t in touch with the lead after this stage it will be hard to close the gap. Stages 4 to 7 and 11 are likely to decide this race with a long bike sprint to the finish.
With 400km of Mountain Biking it’s going to play an important role but it’s fantastic to see that the water is going to be the key ( and hopefully navigation )!
