Dancing Keisha : A Chance to Dance

The Texas Dance Educators’ Association (TDEA) 2025 Convention, themed “Embrace Your Journey,” was an inspiring experience and the perfect way to kick off 2026! ✨�It was truly an honor to serve as a member of the TDEA 2026 Curriculum Committee, where I had the opportunity to contribute to the convention and collaborate with passionate dance educators from across Texas to inspire and elevate the future of dance education.
This convention reaffirmed that Carter Academy Dance is on the right path in advancing elementary dance educationand building strong foundations for our young dancers. 💃🏽🩰
I’m also looking forward to continued collaboration with the Texas Association for Dance and Culture (TADC) as we work together to empower Texas through dance.
I’m excited and grateful to share that I was a raffle winner! 🏆💃🏽�Congratulations to Dance Educator Keisha Bussey, from Carter Academy in Aldine ISD, for winning 10 Ballet Folklórico practice skirts for her dance program. Thank you to all the dance educators who stopped by to learn more about TADC and participated in the raffle! 🎫

With heavy hearts, the dance community mourns the loss of Carmen de Lavallade (March 6, 1931 – December 29, 2025). A legendary American dancer, choreographer, and actress, her extraordinary career spanned more than seven decades. Known for her elegance, strength, and versatility, she was a transformative force in modern dance and a true pioneer for Black artists in the performing arts.
We lift her son, Leo, and her entire family in prayer. Carmen de Lavallade’s legacy will forever live on in the world of dance and in the hearts of all she inspired. Thank you for paving the way for us all.
