July 12, 2026! Be a part of the Premiere West Coast Open Water Swim! 11 scenic miles on the Willamette under the bridges of Portland Oregon. @portlandbridgeswim
Heading into its tenth year after a 2-year hiatus, the Portland Bridge Swim is a marathon swimming race through the heart of Portland, Oregon. Part nature experience, part sight-seeing tour and all physical & mental challenge. The swim is open to solo swimmers and 3-person relay teams. Proceeds benefit Willamette Riverkeeper. As the weather gets cold, our team gets to work planning the Portland Bridge Swim: getting permits, booking vendors, and getting into the nitty gritty details. We're so excited to announce the race date for next year will be July 12, 2026!
As you know, it's impossible to put on this event without volunteers. Our organization is 100% volunteer-run, with the race director, safety team, planning committee, and day-of folks all volunteering to put on this epic event for our swimming community. The Portland Bridge Swim will take place on Sunday, July 9th.
The race starts at Sellwood Riverfront Park at 7:30am. The race organizers will be in the park from 5:00 to 8:30am and the sound system will be in use for a pre-race briefing from 6:30-7:00am and to direct swimmers to the race start from 7:20-8:00am. Previous years have proven to be quiet and the race organizers work hard to avoid disturbing the park's neighbors.
Registration is now sold out (there is a waitlist) but I'm sure the swimmers would love enthusiastic support and cheering from their Sellwood-Moreland hosts and neighbors!
