CELEBRATION OF LIFE - CHARLES RHODES

For those of you who knew Charles Rhodes please see the email below regarding a memorial service for him arranged by some of his running friends.

Please note that Charles' family will not be in attendance as they had a pre-arranged and booked group vacation planned - they want everyone to know that they would be there if they could and thank you for your love and support.

Dear friends and runners,

This past November we lost Charles Rhodes, a great friend and runner after his 10+ years battle with ALS. Charles's fight with ALS was nothing but heroic and his battle was an inspiration to many of us.

In memory of Charles, you are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Memorial Park on June 23, 2022. Details are as follows:

Date: Thursday, June 23, 2022
Time: 6 to 8 pm
Location: Memorial Park, Live Oak Court picnic area just off the Eastern Everglades running trail (where the coffee truck is located). A map is included below.

Light refreshments will be provided (drinks). As this will be a celebration of Charles's life, please bring pictures and stories of Charles to share with others.

Also, we are arranging to have a park bench placed along the Buffalo Bayou running trail close to Jackson Hill in honor of Charles. Donations of any amount are appreciated to help with the cost of the bench. If you desire to contribute please speak with Brian Binash at the June 23rd Celebration of Life.

We do not have email addresses for all of Charles's friends and running buddies so please feel free to forward this invitation to others. Please forward and do not do a "reply all".

We really want a good turnout as Charles was an exceptional person, friend, and runner and there is nothing more he would appreciate than to have all his friends together once again on a Thursday night.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Regards,

No Words! Just ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

ALVIN (L), our special blind boy, is celebrating his HAPPY TAIL Adoption Day and first Mother's Day with his official Furever Mom and RCR Alum Sister! 🥰

Alvin was only 10 months old and the victim of a cruelty case when we rescued him a year ago. He was confiscated by the police from a backyard where he was tethered 24/7 to a short chain that had grown deeply into his neck. After the chain was surgically removed, we discovered even more devastating news...Alvin is nearly totally blind from early onset retinal degeneration, most likely caused by poor nutrition in Alvin's early months. There is no cure, and it will continue to progress. We cannot imagine how scared Alvin must have been...tied out on a chain which grew into his skin and unable to defend himself or even see!

Alvin was not an easy case. His past took a toll on him, and he required a lot of time, patience, and love to learn to trust people and other pets. But his pawsome foster mom never gave up on him, and helped Alvin become the happy boy he is today! We were elated when his foster mom informed us she wanted to make Alvin a permanent member of her family! Of course, Alvin already knew he was home to stay!

HAPPY MOTHER'S Day to all furever moms, foster moms, and amazing women who love and care for our furry friends! You make Happy Tails like Alvin's possible! ❤️

OMG this is just too precious!

Rumor has it that a Kenyan Wayer is the foster Daddy to this little family ( Bob & Amy Morgan, you are super duper doggie hero’s!)

If you can give a little (or a lot 😜) it would help so much!

What an eventful weekend...GIGI, our precious little tripod, had 6 adorable PUPPIES, but with a rough start!

Gigi, being a first time mom, handled the delivery like a pro! But things didn't go as planned afterwards! Gigi had milk in her teats, but the puppies were not able to latch on and suckle. And mom wouldn't lay still when they tried. We packed everyone up and rushed off to the ER.

The exam revealed no obvious birth defects and Gigi was okay, but the puppies needed nourishment or they would not make it. We began trying to supplement nursing with bottle feeding. The first 72 hours were very scary, requiring round the clock care. We are still not out of the woods, but today both Gigi and the puppies seem to be getting the hang of nursing a bit better.

There are 3 boys and 3 girls. Names to be announced soon! Please keep this precious family in your prayers! Donations for their medical care greatly appreciated!❤️
