It's WWYD Wednesday with a twist... or as we call it... WWYS (what would you say) Wednesday.

If you could sit down with your younger self for just 5 minutes, what would you warn them about?

Not just “save your money.”

What would you really say?

Would you warn them about:

* moving too fast with the wrong people?
* ignoring red flags?
* wasting money trying to impress folks?
* not taking school, work, or credit seriously soon enough?
* settling for survival mode instead of building a real plan?

Parents, this one’s for you too:
What advice would you give your younger self with the knowledge you have now?

Drop one thing below. Somebody younger might need to read it.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the strong, loving, hardworking mothers and mother figures out there. 💙

Today we celebrate the women who teach, guide, sacrifice, encourage, and keep showing up even when it’s not easy.

With love and appreciation from The Achieving Academy.

Program Spotlight: WWYD Scenarios

One part of our program includes WWYD: What Would You Do? scenarios.

These are real-life situations designed to get youth and young adults thinking before they move — because every choice has consequences, and real life doesn’t always give warnings first.

These scenarios are human-designed and pulled from real-life experiences, including insight from team members, community voices, life coaches, mentors, and everyday situations young people may actually face.

We use them to spark conversation, build decision-making skills, and help young people think through everyday choices in a more practical way.

Before it was a program, it was a conversation. 🖤

A real one. In a real room. With real young people who needed someone to just show up and be honest with them about what was coming.
That was 2017.

What started as a simple conversation with a couple of high school students grew in 2018…into speaking engagements, life skills workshops, youth recognition events, and creative projects — all built around one belief:
Young people deserve to be prepared for real life before real life shows up uninvited.

In 2019 we hosted our first in-person life skills workshop and then created & co-hosted the YACO Awards — Youth Academic & Community Outreach — celebrating young people for growth, effort, leadership, creativity, and community impact. Not just grades.

In 2021 we created Aniya’s Escape — a short film and music video project giving youth a platform to act, sing, and be part of storytelling with purpose.

The Achieving Academy has always been about real preparation for real life.
Now we’re rebuilding that same mission into something more structured, more accessible, and easier for schools, courts, agencies, families, and organizations to actually use.

Life Skills 101 is coming. 👀
Real life. Real skills. Real consequences.

Last night I heard the most beautiful and horrible sound… back to back.

It started as 17 straight minutes of fireworks— no lie..17 minutes (I tracked it).
and I’m not even gonna lie… the first 7 minutes felt freeing.
Like my body finally exhaled. I sunk into the bed and just vibed.
It was loud, but it was beautiful.

Then something shifted.. and my anxiety kicked in.

And that same sound that felt like celebration started sounding like war.
And in that moment, my heart got heavy. Because while some of us hear “Happy New Year”…
I know there are veterans who hear trauma.

So if you made it through last night triggered, anxious, or on edge—
I just want to say: I see you.
And I’m sending love to the ones who don’t get to “enjoy” fireworks the same way.

Here’s to a new year that includes more peace… for everybody. 🖤✨
