💙 When Parents Email the Principal…
I recently learned that a parent at Epiphany sent an email directly to the principal about our Jiu-Jitsu program.
Not to me.
To the principal.
That means something.
This is their second semester with us, and they shared that their two Epiphany sisters look forward to Jiu-Jitsu every single Friday.
When Camp Kappe came up, the older sister’s first question was:
“Will I be back in time for Jiu-Jitsu?”
That’s the kind of impact we pray for.
⸻
🌟 Confidence That Transfers
One of the sisters didn’t always feel confident in her athletic ability.
After the first month of training, she began setting personal lap records in PE class.
Not because we focused on running laps.
But because she started believing in herself differently.
That’s what real self-defense training builds — internal confidence that shows up everywhere.
⸻
🔥 Focus & Discipline
The other sister needed more focus and structure.
Now their parents hear them debating proper double-leg takedown technique at home.
They even bought mats so the girls can practice together.
That’s ownership.
That’s growth.
That’s discipline becoming part of their identity.
⸻
🤝 The Culture Matters Most
The parents also mentioned something I love hearing:
They have to drag their daughters out of class after it ends because the kids just want to stay and hang out together.
Different ages.
Different grades.
One team.
That bond, that camaraderie — that’s intentional.
⸻
When parents care enough to email school leadership about the impact they’re seeing, it tells me we’re doing something right.
Grateful to serve the families at Epiphany.
Grateful to watch these kids grow in confidence, discipline, friendship, and character.
This is bigger than takedowns. 💪

Real-World Win 🛡️
This week, a parent shared something that stopped me in my tracks.
Their kids were being bullied at the park.
Instead of panicking, escalating, or freezing… they stayed calm, used what they’ve learned in class, protected themselves, and handled the situation appropriately.
And afterward?
They were proud — not because of fighting, but because they knew what to do.
This is why we train the way we do.
Not to create aggressive kids — but confident, capable ones who can think clearly under pressure and make good decisions when it matters most.
Moments like this remind us that Jiu-Jitsu isn’t just something kids do in class.
It shows up in real life — in confidence, composure, and courage.
Proud of our students. Grateful for our families.
This is bigger than medals. 🙏💪

What a day. What a team. What a blessing.
25 competitors - 17 medals - Team Effort !
This weekend was about so much more than medals.
We saw kids step onto the mats with nerves, courage, and heart.
We saw wins, losses, tears, smiles, and growth happening in real time.
We saw teammates cheering louder for each other than for themselves.
We saw families show up early, stay late, pray, support, and serve.
Some of our students even had to compete against fellow Soldiers for Christ teammates. That’s never easy—but it’s also a testament to how many of our kids showed up willing to test themselves. Win or lose, those matches still count: for experience, confidence, and earning your place on the mat.
One of the toughest moments? Watching a student face my own daughter. That’s hard for everyone involved—but it’s also part of the journey. We don’t avoid the difficult moments. We walk through them together and grow from them.
These are the moments that shape character.
These are the moments kids remember.
These are the moments that make life meaningful.
Thank you to every parent, volunteer, coach, sibling, and supporter who made this day possible. You are the reason this community is special.
So proud of this team.
Grateful beyond words.
God is good. 🙏🥋

Tournament Day Tomorrow 🥋🔥
Tomorrow, 27 Soldiers for Christ Jiu-Jitsu students step onto the mats at JJ World League here in Houston.
Win or lose, this is about courage, confidence, and showing up when it counts. Some first-timers, some veterans, all growing through the challenge.
We’re grateful for our families, supporters, and community. These are the moments that build character and create memories that last a lifetime.
Say a prayer, send some love, and let’s go have a great day. 🙏👊
