We would like to start by apologizing for not posting in a while. Hopefully everyone stood by the old saying “no news is good news”. In this case it’s great news. John’s healing is on schedule and thanks to all the prayers, continued progress is being achieved. A huge milestone was reached a couple weeks ago when he was able to return to the softball field exactly 100 days post-transplant. Thanks everyone for your continued prayers, love and support. God is good!

Been a while since an update, but “no news” is often “good news.”
Received this from the family this morning as they wanted to share progress.
John is 70 days post-transplant and doing well! He had a 60-day bone marrow test done on September 19th and the results are good. The bone marrow is healthy and making new, healthy blood cells. His blood counts have stayed elevated, almost to normal ranges. The test also showed that the cells in the bone marrow are 100% donor cells, which is great! That is what we want with a stem cell transplant. Our doctors want John to do what they call a “maintenance cycle” for 12 months. He will be given a low dose chemotherapy for 5 days, once a month. This is to get any cancer that could still be left somewhere, and to help prevent a relapse. Our doctors have told us that as far as they can detect, there is no cancer left. But they like to do this just to be sure. Since John is doing well, they think he will tolerate it just fine. Overall, John has felt good and enjoying getting back to some normal activities. He has been able to attend softball tournaments and even help coach a little at practice.
We are still so grateful for all of the love and support from everybody! We feel very blessed to have so many wonderful, caring people in our lives. We appreciate your continued prayers for John’s health and our family.

John is back home from the hospital and enjoying a little freedom and home cooking. Today he was able to watch his Texas Heat softball tryouts from afar but still giving positive feedback as always. God is good! Please keep the prayers and well wishes coming.

Man, what a day!
First off, praise God for John’s continued progress! Following the stem cell transplant, the doctors have been watching his numbers closely. Thursday his counts were .1, Friday .3, Saturday, 1.3 and today 3.7!!!! Great news! Looks as though he will be going home for some sleep in his own bed and some REAL food as early as tomorrow. (Which is several days ahead of schedule) Again, please keep the prayers and well wishes coming.
As far as the benefit goes, on behalf of the family, we’d like to thank all who took time out your busy lives to make a difference. Those who volunteered, those who bought bbq, raffle tickets, bid on auction items, etc... we cannot begin to express our gratitude. Seeing this turnout and love for a friend/family member truly enforces our faith in humanity.
Again, thank you all for your support. Whether it be financially or through prayer and love, you are all appreciated and loved. God Bless you all!

Update On John:
Blood counts are on the rise! Great news as he is a little ahead of schedule on the healing process. Still a long road ahead, but it looks like he’ll be released from the hospital as early as Monday which is also several days ahead of schedule. All praise to God!
He’s ready for some non-hospital food and sleep in his own bed. 😂
