Located Central Houston, we offer online and in-person movement classes for adults.

04/16/2026

After a little break from teaching weekly classes (so much has been going on behind the scenes, and I'm working my way toward an update for folks who'd like to be in the loop), I'm allll the way back on my b.s. with Fusion Technique and prepping new work for the Dauntless Dance Project (our studio's resident performance ensemble at Dauntless Dance and Movement). First up is an exciting collab with NorΓ°anfΓ³lk that'll feature some of their new rep, and we're nailing down details for the next that'll come right on its heels. Wanna dance with us, Houston? DM me for info πŸ˜‰

How do we decide what we wanna tackle stylistically when we're excited about half a dozen options? I'll make little teaser combinations for the crew to try on for size. Here's one we played with tonight πŸ–€

We have an incredibly exciting instructor announcement to make:

Starting 1/7, our very own Vidya Chakravarthy will be offering a brand new 6-week series Wednesdays at 6:15.

Discover the beauty of Indian Fusion in this engaging and enriching class led by Vidya as she blends graceful aspects of story telling and movement inspired by Indian classical and folk dances, offering an opportunity to learn, explore, and connect with technique and expression on a deeper level.

This class is open to dancers of all experience levels- whether you’re a beginner exploring a new art form or an experienced dancer looking to refine your craft. It'll be offered in person at Dauntless, and if you'd like to join us online, dm for details or pop into the Dauntless Magnificent Adventurers group on FB πŸ–€

We can't get enough of this incredible artist, and we know you won't be able to either, so she'll also be kicking off a brand new session of ITS Level 1 starting 1/6 at 6 pm!

Allll of the updates!

We are completely out of the Houston Avenue space and settling into our new castle as we build it around ourselves.

The dance surface on the first of the three studios was completed last night (there may have been actual divine intervention involved), and @_s.s.a.m.m.y_ @literarytrashpanda and @kimberlylarkspur christened the room with a little ITS as our first event in the space was setting up.

We have a long way to go and a lot of work ahead of us, but we have a place to be and the ability to keep everyone dancing while we continue to pour magic into every inch and surface in our new home.

Kim will be out this week on a long-scheduled trip out of state, so regular Tuesday and Wednesday classes will resume on August 12th.

There will likely be some small projects and work in this space going on while Jus and Kim are off touching grass, horses, and mountains, so keep an eye on the volunteer chat if you would like to stay in the loop. If you'd like to offer support to the project in ways that don't require kneepads, see πŸ”— in bio

While we worked (literally πŸ˜…) around the clock in the last few days to hit move-out, and buildout deadlines, it seems all of you have quietly bumped us up to one third of the way to our $⬆️ goal. More and more, this project feels like a community love letter and my heart is full to bursting. - Kim

Thanks to amazing support from community and friends, we are just $20 short of being 20% funded in our campaign to support our expansion and development of a new community arts space just 4 days in. Will you be the mensch who pushes us into the run up to the 1/4th mark?

Updates on progress - all four walls in the first of three dance spaces are framed, and we've begun the process of hanging sheetrock amongst the bouncing booties and flagrant rewriting of all manner of song lyrics. Phase one is right on target, and we're building love and laughter right into these new walls πŸ₯°

If you'd like to help us along, see πŸ”— πŸ‘‡

Some updates on the new .dance studio space! Demolition of the old internal dividers and removal of the waste is complete, and framing of the small and medium studio spaces is well underway! Paint has been acquired. Ancient linoleum and a ceiling insulated with a colorful combination of tax records, record production invoices, and nudie mags have been lovingly (and laughingly) relocated.

Swing in this month and get that last dance in the old space while our team of volunteers shimmies through helping us build a new place to gather. It'll be all warmed up when we welcome you in πŸ–€

Wanna help us get this new rehearsal and performance space up and serving the Houston performing arts community? See πŸ”— πŸ‘‡ for more info!

The Dauntless Dance and Movement crew has been schemin' all through the spring since we found out we were being priced out of our studio home of nearly 13 years by new property owners keen on hiking rent on a commercial space they weren't maintaining (unplanned indoor water features, anyone?), and it's finally time to let the cryptid out of the bog.

Two weeks ago, we picked up the keys for a warehouse that has the potential to grow into a multi-studio performance complex and jumped into making it a reality. Three dance spaces, the largest of which will eventually be a convertible black box theater will be available as facility conversions are complete, with the first planned to begin hosting classes and socials by early August.

In the meantime, we're dancing our goodbyes to the Houston Avenue space and spending every other moment pouring love and elbow grease into our shared future in a new home (just 7 minutes away) we hope will serve as a home base for artists and performers from across every spectrum for years to come.

If you'd like to contribute support of any kind, we'd be thrilled to welcome you to the project πŸ–€ Point peepers at our campaign to stay abreast πŸ”—πŸ‘‡

In the meantime, please enjoy the view from my temporary desk. The scenery in this πŸ‘ orchard is truly without peer 😌
