Too many young athletes chase instant gratification and focus on getting “bigger” instead of truly getting better. The number on the scale can be misleading. Just because you gained weight does not mean you are faster, stronger, more mobile, or less likely to get injured. All weight is not created equal.
What many athletes overlook is that once you get to the college level, your meals are buffet style. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are set up so athletes can eat what they need to fuel and recover. On top of that, you will have access to unlimited food, protein shakes, strength coaches, and structured development programs designed to help you gain size and strength.
Because of that, your middle school and high school years should be viewed as your foundation years. Just like building a home, the strength of the foundation determines how high the structure can go.⬆️⬆️
This is the time to focus on the qualities that take the longest to develop:
speed, movement quality, coordination, strength relative to your body weight, body composition, and reducing your chances of injury.
Those qualities take months and often years to build, but they can be lost within weeks if they are not trained consistently and properly.
Size will come, but development must be built.
Focus on becoming the best athlete, not just the biggest one. 💪🏾🧠

S/O to. for the hard work over the past few months. Between power lifting and working with us he’s made huge strides in confidence, knowledge of the game, and strength.
He’s increased his bench press about 30-35lbs and his squat by 45lbs. Looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together over the next 4-6 months before he returns full time with his team.

Janice found us through her best friend and from day one you could feel how intentional she was.
As a physical therapist, she notices everything. The small details. The setup. The tempo. And she is not afraid to ask questions. If something does not make sense, she wants to understand the why behind it. She genuinely cares about moving well, doing things right, and most importantly staying pain and injury free.
She did not come to us focused on losing 20 or 30 pounds. She grew up playing sports, so her mindset was different. Her goals were centered around building strength, sharpening her habits, and showing up confidently at work and in life.
She also understands something a lot of people ignore. After the age of 30, if muscle is not intentionally preserved, we slowly lose it every year. The same goes for bone density. In her profession, strength and durability are not optional. They are essential.
