Having the opportunity to train with Scott the last 5 years during his off season then watching him pitch and see that hard work pay off. That is the excitement. Thats the rush.

I was just over in Japan to watch my buddy Scott pitch. He plays for the Giants over in Tokyo. Over the past 5 years of his off season i had the chance to train with him. 5 or 6 days a week. At the gym by 5am. Weight training. Plyometric training. Position specific training. That was hard but learned alot. But the best part was watching him pitch. Watching all that hard work during the off season being preformed on the field. Thats the rush.
On some occasions I still like to see if I still can push a little heavy. But that's just a few times a month. Turning 61 last June kinda hit me hard when it comes to my personal Fitness. I realized real quick I need more muscular endurance exercise. Body resistance exercise with timed programs. Plyos. Also the spin class I really like that I havnt been to in a few weeks. Yes spin. It ain't easy and it's a blast. The nutrition habits gotta change also. Thanksgiving is a week over now. Body weight is at 168. That don't bother me I worry about my body fat count which I am sure is above where it should be. So gonna change some things around. Nutrition and training routines gonna change and let's see what happens. Baby steps. 30 day check point. Heavy concentration on cardiovascular Fitness and muscular endurance. With a little heavy mixed in. Try it out. Give it a shot. See what happens. Shake it up a bit. There are so many ways to beat atrophy or give it a good fight anyway. Just train.

Same man in both pictures. About 60 years apart. Never to old to train. Never. This is my dad.

At 29 years old... 34..and now 60 years old. It's hard to train the same as I did when I was younger. But I do the best I can... I keep training. That's the key. Keep trying. I am no where near what I once was. But I keep going. It's hard not to get discouraged sometimes. But I keep training. All in all. Do what you can the best you can to stay fit. Just train.
Hex Bar Dead Lifts. A great way to change up the same ol squat routine. Still getting the squat motion in. But I needed to be a little higher up so my squat motion could sink a little lower. But you do the best you can with what you have. Just training..

Today's session. Muscular endurance and strength. This is a good way to burn calories. Keep moving. Remember that cardio is a great way to burn off fat. But what happens when you hit that pointmaq loss stops. You also must work the muscles. Fat is everywhere. Arms. Butt. Chest. Legs. Back. Just cardio will not reduce the fat around some of those areas. You have to do some sort of resistance training. And that does not mean heavy weight lifting only. Resistance can be body resistance like push ups. Swimming. Body squats. It can mean isometrically training. It's not all heavy weights to burn calories and replace fat with lean muscle. A good combo of cardio and resistance and you should burn it up. But remember no matter who you are what age. Or fitness level you are at. Fitness don't work unless you work at your fitness.
