NC Fury Platinum Gowens

Our girls battled through some close games and showed flashes of just how competitive this team can be this past weekend. After 14 hours on the field, here is a recap of our day:

GAME 1 vs. Lady Aces | L 5-8
A rough start put us in an early hole, but our girls weren't going down without a fight!

👏 Shoutout to Mia M., who stepped into the circle in relief with the bases loaded and a tough situation ahead of her!

Our offense answered with FIVE runs in the second inning! Lilly B. helped bring home two runs on a groundout, while Peyton G. delivered an RBI single. Unfortunately, the comeback fell just short.

GAME 2 vs. Newport Bombers | L 1-2
A tough pitchers' duel that could have gone either way!

👏 Sawyer B. battled in the circle, allowing just ONE hit and recording FIVE strikeouts over three innings!
👏 Peyton G. led the offense with a hit and TWO stolen bases, while Dylan B. drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home our run.
The defense also turned a double play! Sometimes the scoreboard doesn't reflect how hard a team battles.

🔥 GAME 3 vs. CO Black Widows | W 7-3
The girls found their rhythm and put together a SIX-run second inning!

👏 Amyra G. earned the win in the circle, recording SIX strikeouts over four innings!
👏 Mia M. delivered an RBI single, while Dylan B. added another RBI single up the middle!
👏 Makayla D. also drove in a run, and our defense turned another double play!

🔥GAME 4 vs. 5-Tool Diamonds | W 9-4
Now THIS was a comeback! Down 1-0, the girls exploded for EIGHT runs in the third inning to take control!

👏 Harper O. earned the win in the circle, striking out four while allowing just one walk over four innings!
👏 Peyton G., Amyra G., and Cora B. each collected a hit, with Peyton and Cora driving in runs!
👏 Harper O., Cierra L., and Dylan B. each drew two walks, helping the team rack up TEN walks!
👏 Lilly B. and Caroline S. each stole multiple bases as Fury finished with SEVEN stolen bases!

🔥 GAME 5 vs. Burke Fury | L 2-4
A frustrating finish to the day. Despite outhitting our opponent 4-1, we couldn't get the timely hits we needed.

👏 Sawyer B. battled through three innings in the circle, allowing just ONE hit and recording two strikeouts!
👏 Peyton G., Amyra G., Dylan B., and Lilly B. each collected a hit!
👏 Peyton G. delivered an RBI double to center field, while Sawyer B. brought home another run on a groundout!
Unfortunately, a tough third inning proved costly.

First REAL fall tournament in the books! The girls learned an important lesson… that forgetting an undershirt is a rookie mistake you only make once. 🥶 Sunny days, but chilly nights!

Overall, we saw some great pitching performances, timely hits, aggressive baserunning, and defensive plays worth celebrating. We also saw how quickly walks, errors, and missed opportunities can change the outcome of a game.

The talent is there. The potential is there. Now it's about finding consistency and putting all the pieces together.

Yesterday, we saw a different side of Fury Platinum—and we sure hope these girls are here to stay!

We’ve watched this team come out strong in pool play, then struggle to carry that same energy into bracket. Yesterday, they played together, trusted each other, and showed us a version of this team we’ve been waiting to see.

The girls earned the #1 seed in the Gold bracket and made their way to the championship! 👏

🥎 5–3 win over Lady Dukes
🥎 5–1 win over Rox City
🥎 7–2 win over Garner Elite

Sawyer, Mia, and Harper handled business in the circle, combining for 13 strikeouts across those three wins! Sawyer and Lilly each delivered a triple, and Harper, Dylan, and Lilly each had a two-RBI game. Peyton collected a hit in every game of the day! Contributions came from all across the lineup, and it was fun watching these girls find ways to get it done together.

The championship ended in a tough 19–5 loss to a strong Surry Smack team. A rough first and last inning, with some avoidable errors along the way, cost us. Peyton, Cierra, Caroline, and Sawyer each picked up a hit in that game, but we couldn’t put everything together to finish the day the way we wanted.

That loss gives us plenty to work on. Cleaning up the little things, limiting mistakes, and staying steady under pressure will all be part of getting better. There’s still a lot of work ahead, but one tough game doesn’t erase the progress these girls made yesterday.
We know what they’re capable of, and yesterday they got to see it, too. We hope they carry that confidence, effort, and belief in each other into every tournament from here on out.

Proud of these girls and the steps they’re taking. Back to work—this team has more in them! 🖤🤍

Happy birthday to our very own Caroline Schneider! 🥳🥎

#28 shows up ready to learn, gives everything her best, and somehow always has a smile on her face. Talking her teammates up is her specialty, and her encouragement makes our dugout a happier place!

We love the joy you bring to this team, Caroline! Hope your birthday is as sweet as you are! 🖤🤍

To Our Girls,

This game will challenge you.

There will be days when the hits don’t fall, the throws miss their target, the losses sting, and frustration feels louder than confidence. There will be moments when the scoreboard won’t reflect the work you’ve put in. But softball has never only been about wins and losses. It’s about who you become while chasing something together.

As you step into this new 12U journey, understand this: you do not have to be perfect.

You are learning.
You are growing.
You are becoming.

What matters most is that every practice, every inning, every hard conversation, and every tough moment makes you just a little better than you were yesterday. One percent better. That’s the goal.

Our final 10U tournament ended in the gold bracket, and although we didn’t come out on top, never let that erase what you accomplished. You competed. You battled. You earned your place there. And more importantly, you showed heart.

That matters.

As coaches, we see something special in every single one of you. Potential. Toughness. Leadership. Love for each other. Some of you lead loudly, some quietly, but every one of you brings value to this team.

We hope years from now you remember more than the wins. We hope you remember the laughs in the dugout, the tears after hard losses, the way you picked each other up, and the respect you built for one another. We hope you grow together not only as softball players, but as teammates, sisters, and young women.

Every day won’t guarantee a win.
But every day is another opportunity to grow.

Keep working. Keep believing. Keep showing up for each other.

And always remember this, you have three coaches behind you who believe in you, push you, see your greatness, and love you like our own.

Tough times don’t last forever, but tough people do.

And every single one of you is tough, special, and unique in your own way.

Now let’s grow together.

Love Your Coaches,
Tomay, Marissa, and Jake

Family on me, family on 3!

P.S. who has the next TikTok video idea for Coach Marissa to make Coach Jake do? 😆😆😆
