Movember is over and IUP Hockey raises $1,043 for Western Pennsylvanias Veterans Association!

Every November IUP Hockey players grow out their mustaches to raise money and awareness for men’s health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health/suicide prevention. Over the past 8 years IUP hockey has raised over $10,000. Representing Western PA Veterans Association is District Attorney, Robert Manzi Jr., Sheriff Robert Fyock, and Lieutenant Colonel Gregory Davis.

The IUP Men’s Division I Ice Hockey team proudly continued their tradition of community support by hosting the 6th Annual November Mustache Challenge. This year’s effort raised an impressive $1,555, with the full proceeds donated to the Western Pennsylvania Veterans Relief Fund. The team presented a check to Sheriff Bob Fyock and Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Gregory Davis during a special ceremony.

The Mustache Challenge winner, #7 Chase Malloy, was recognized for his stellar mustache-growing efforts, which helped bring awareness to the cause.

Over the past six years, the Crimson Hawks have collectively raised $11,654 through the Mustache Challenge, showcasing their ongoing commitment to giving back to the community and supporting those who have served our country.

The team extends heartfelt thanks to all who participated and donated, making this year’s challenge another resounding success. Together, the IUP Men’s Ice Hockey team and their supporters continue to make a meaningful difference for Western Pennsylvania veterans.

Last Friday the boys went to Indiana Area School District Ben Franklin Elementary to hand out game schedules, stickers, and team photos to grades Pre-K through 3rd! They also gave out high-fives to all the students as they exited school for the weekend! Coach Gavin Cummings donated 5 IUP hockey jerseys to 5 lucky students.

Thank you to Principal Kelly Urbani for allowing the boys to come and hang out with the students!

The boys even got a picture with Indiana Borough Police Department SGT. Hoag and K9 Axel

It’s Giving Tuesday!

We at IUP Hockey are student funded and any donation is greatly appreciated! Hockey is an expensive sport, all donations will be used towards transportation, hotels, meals on the road, and any student athletes in need.

We are kicking off Movember with our 6th annual Movember Mustache Challenge. Over the last five years, the team has donated $9800 to the Western Pa Veterans Relief Fund, a nonprofit 501 (3)(C). The money stays local and goes directly to veterans in need. More information is on the flyer below.

Voting will be at the next few home games and online. You can vote by donating money to your favorite mustached player. If you want to write a
check, you can make it out directly to Western Pa Veterans Relief Fund, and mail to me at 970 Barclay Rd Indiana PA 15701. You can
