Homesteading is never ending in the best way possible.
Constant learning and reading and trial and error. It’s messy and overwhelming.

But it comes with the best rewards. Things you can’t buy or fake. A sense of security and protection that the grocery store doesn’t offer. You can rely on it. It’s not Pinterest perfect, it’s practical and sustainable.

It’s something we share with people openly and free. There’s no secrets to what we’re doing or why or how.
It’s a community and a dying art that we’re desperately trying to keep alive.

Life Hack: make crispy, salty, buttery fried eggs for your meal prep/snack/breakfast for the week…such an upgrade from hard boiled eggs šŸ™Œ
Yes I’ll eat them cold…probably with my fingers. Yes you can reheat them if ya want.

For reference we ate this all in one day 🤫
My favorite part is using all of our homegrown herbs and my homemade pickles with cucumbers from the garden. You can add whatever herbs as you want, omit the pickles…add onion or celery! Endless possibilities 🄰
If all you have access to is dried herbs they can work as well, you might need to add a bit more though.

Ingredients:
🌱1/2 chopped fresh herbs of choice (I used sage, basil, chives, oregano, thyme & rosemary)
šŸ“ 2 cups chopped cooked chicken (roast it yourself or use a rotisserie chicken!)
šŸ„’ 1/4 chopped pickles (homemade or store bought)
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1/4 to 1/2 cup mayo
Salt, pepper and paprika
šŸ„„Stir and EAT!
I like it as is, but is equally delicious in a lettuce wrap, in celery or a sandwich šŸ‘Œ

I’m just over here sitting on the floor.

One of the best books I ever read was on the Blue Zones. I know it become somewhat of a ā€œfadā€ for a while, but the ideas and truths are not. Walk more, quit using things out of convenience, get down on the ground, squat, garden.

The physical practices of people in Blue Zones is always on my mind.

Also quit paying someone to mow your grass. Buy a push mower and do it yourself.

I love muscle ups, BUT I’m not really good at them šŸ˜† Every now and then I can squeak out a really good one, but hitting reps is usually a no. It’s very frustrating because I know I have the strength but the technique just isn’t there. My timing is off, my feet go back behind me and my ankles come apart…

It’s a combination of a few things:
🌱I created some really bad habits while I was learning them that I just haven’t been able to break
🌱I have terrible body awareness so it’s hard to break bad habits and relearn when I FEEL like my body is doing the right thing…but it’s not
🌱I also have a hard time training them year round since I workout from home
🌱I’m not naturally athletic and it takes me a very long time to learn skills (my first non-chicken wing MUP took me 2+ years of training
🌱 My false grip is p**p and I don’t train it because it hurts šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜†
Also these are all šŸ‘excuses šŸ‘ I’m committed to putting in the work to hopefully clean them up and begin to get higher volume reps in.

ā”What tips or drills would you recommend??

I LOVE kang squats.🦘

They are so versatile. Literally they hit everything. I used to program them into my ladies workouts and I loved trying to help everyone figure out the movement.
Hinge, b***y out, chest up and sit down. I promise once you get the flow of it you’ll love it too.

You can use no weight for a great mobility/warm up movement or a barbell with whatever weight you can tolerate.
I prefer kettlebells over barbells, but you do you 🫶
